Zelensky hinted at Lukashenko about Maduro’s fate if he decides to move against Ukraine The President of Ukraine warned that Russia is not abandoning attempts to draw Belarus into the war. He said that activity is being recorded in Belarusian border areas: roads are being built toward the Ukrainian border, artillery positions are being equipped, and forces are being regrouped. Ukraine has already sent a signal to Minsk that in case of a threat of invasion, there will be a decisive response. Zelensky separately reminded the Belarusian authorities of “recent events in Venezuela.” For now, there is too little information to draw loud conclusions. But Lukashenko clearly understands that direct participation in an invasion of Ukraine would be a catastrophe for his regime. Therefore, a full-scale invasion looks unlikely. But provocations on the border are quite possible. And this looks less like an independent move by Minsk and more like an order from Moscow to keep tension on the border and distract Ukrainian forces to the north.
