@thegamersjoint Combination of poor management at SE and a lot of the core team being tied down to the FF7 remake trilogy.
I expect KH4 to become priority #1 with their teams once FF7 part 3 is released, and more info comes out after.

I really hope that after the release of Kingdom Hearts IV the team can get consistency down and hope that it’s only because of the mass Reboot phase that SE are going through that explains this massive gap.
By the time IV releases, it’ll likely be close on a decade since KH3 released and really any NEW KH content for that matter, that’s kind of insane given its SE 3rd most successful IP with a dedicated team. Easily the biggest most quietest gap of the franchises history.
Man I SORELY miss the release cycle of the first 10 years of Kingdom Hearts… the development landscape is so different now, taking literal chapters of life just to receive a follow up. We’ll likely never get back to that, but it has to be better than whatever’s been going on for the past 6-7 years 💀

Sony is reportedly shutting down Bluepoint Games, just 5 years after acquiring them. They made Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus remakes. They reportedly were working on a God of War live service title for 5 years that got cancelled, depressing end to an amazing studio.

@IamNevG I’m cautiously optimistic. It’ll probably take 5+ years to release and I’m sure a lot of the content and writing will be neutered.
That being said, if the remakes play identically to the old ones (not over the shoulder) I’ll be ok. Norse gameplay is not a catch all.

The Nintendo game lineup dooming is a head scratcher for me. There are a bunch of 1st party games/content releasing between now and summer, the lineup is stacked. Then there will probably be a summer showcase to reveal new content through the end of the year.
