“Dr Zach Boakes”… !! It’s official, but still sounds weird. Passed my PhD today. Thank you to all those who have been there on this journey with me, what a journey it has been.

Excited to share I have recently been awarded a post doctoral research fellowship with @brin_indonesia. I am grateful for the opportunity to keep learning, and to contribute to a growing body of research which is helping us to better understand and protect Indonesia’s coral reefs

Honored to receive the ICRS World Reef Award @ICRSCoralReefs! It means a lot to be acknowledged where representation is limited. Indonesia has the world's most diverse coral organisms, yet reef science/conservation often go unrecognized. I'm committed to changing this narrative!

Over the past few weeks myself and @rick7575 have been leading a coral reef research expedition here in Bali. One of our key activities has involved collecting remote underwater video recordings (or “fish CCTV” as I like to call it). Below are a few of my favourite clips:
