I also believe if there was a large contingent of people sincerely claiming to be a different race, many progressives would support them.

If there was an underlying medical cause for race dysphoria, and it happened at scale, it would be a phenomenon we’d have to reckon with
And a lot of the conversations that we currently have about the place of trans people in society would be taking place around transracialism.
And they likely would be schisms within the race-based communities about the degree to which transracials should be accepted or shunned…

At least you're being honest here, because it is the same. But what if the underlying cause is psychological, in both cases? That doesn't mean it's not "medical"--mental health is health. But should the solution be that the people suffering from transracialism dye their skin darker vs. get therapy? Of course, adults CAN do whatever they want, but it commonsense and medical precedent points toward the most conservative treatment, at least as the first recourse.
