This is becoming a “thing” and whilst it may seem cool, the margins are fine and it will at some point end badly. This isn’t me being a spoilsport, it’s me being a realist. The first pass is cool, dramatic, and safe. The second one doesn’t tick all those boxes. Undoubtedly these are some of the most skilled aviators in the world, but it only takes a momentary lapse to become a disaster. It’s not dramatic, it’s dangerous.

WATCH: Dramatic video shows the U.S. Navy Blue Angels performing a low-altitude flyover over Pensacola Beach, Florida. The Navy says it is reviewing the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety investigation.

@realcrazyvaclav @scottiebateman if only there was some way for people to choose to attend these potentially dangerous air shows. If you go to an airshow theres an inherent risk. If you dont like the risk, dont go

@ZKrige @scottiebateman That’s not the point I’m making and you know it, airshow regulations are written in blood for a reason. You wouldn’t be saying that if it was your family taken out by the jet

@ZKrige @scottiebateman Sure, some rally racing on public roads & dirt tracks also has poor crowd safety I'll give you that one. But the kinetic energy involved is much lower than a fighter jet.

@ZKrige Motor racing is strictly controlled and has barriers to protect crowds. Of course we should live our lives but this… nah.

@ZKrige @scottiebateman What if that second jet over the crowd takes a couple of seagulls into the engine? He’s going to look super cool crashing on the beach taking 50-60 other people with him

In the musical the Phantom of the Opera gets a woman to come to his secret underground lair with him, doesn't even try to make a move on her, then wakes her up the next morning by playing incredibly loud incredibly dissonant organ music of his own composition. Autism role model

@Tokamak137 Yes and no. Lots of planes don’t have a transponder or you just turn it off. They can see you on radar but won’t know anything about you Source I’m a pilot

Every aircraft in 🇿🇦 airspace are tracked live. Complete telemetry , even dark flights, we pick up any " incorrect transponder" . Any suspect flight etc etc The FACT THAT , YOU DON'T KNOW, DOES NOT MEAN ITS NOT THERE. Research a bit before making dumb statements

South African airspace is open. You can fly your plane and land in South Africa, nobody will know that you're here as long as you don't land in OR Tambo or Cape Town. If you don't believe me, ask the foreigner who renovated the abandoned airport, he was leaving and entering the country as he wished.

News24 refuses to answer questions about its group’s recent R8 million donation to the ANC and why the company stopped publishing its financial statements in 2021. @News24 editor @AdriaanBasson informed me this morning that they refuse to answer my questions on these matters. By contrast, @afriforum has transparently answered 79 questions that News24 recently put to me as part of its fishing expedition aimed at producing hit pieces on AfriForum. Their recent hit piece on us failed dismally, and they have now, apparently out of desperation, sent me another 26 questions. In the spirit of transparency, I will gladly answer these questions as soon as I receive answers to mine. 😀 News24’s determination to pursue this vendetta against AfriForum has already resulted in the publication having to apologise to AfriForum on numerous occasions for publishing false information about us. It seems these anti AfriForum activists at News24, posing as journalists, have learned nothing from these incidents. 😉

Technically he has landed…
armygunsmith@armygunsmith

@dmbkparker What about a prize for a person who has flown in a helicopter that never actually landed? Both helicopter rides he has taken have crashed. He walked away from both but he technically has never landed in a helicopter.

@kimmonismus 28.8million tokens is a few days usage for most engineers. hardly enough to distill an entire model

Anthropic claims: Alibaba continues to distill Claude on a large scale to train Qwen. Via Bloomberg Anthropic is accusing Alibaba-linked operators of running a massive campaign to illicitly access Claude through nearly 25,000 fraudulent accounts. According to Bloomberg, Anthropic claims the campaign generated 28.8 million Claude exchanges between April and June, targeting capabilities like software engineering and agentic reasoning. The company says this is part of a broader pattern of “adversarial distillation,” where Chinese labs allegedly harvest outputs from US frontier models to train rival systems at a fraction of the cost. Lets see how good Qwen 3.8 will be, probably FABLEous good.
