Incredible excitement about #CANDU at the @OCNI_ CANDU Industry day. Some highlights.. There’s a case for refurbishment at all existing CANDUs around the world. A second refurb is very possible getting CANDUs to 90-100 year assets. Success of refurbs driving excitement about new build CANDU. 3 billion loan by Canadian export bank to Romania a big part of 1st CANDU new builds in 2 decades which will provide a huge boost to new CANDU construction. Last 7 CANDUs built around the world have been on budget and on time. New 1GW scale CANDU design in the pipeline. Advantage is that CANDU already a gen 3+ reactor so doesn’t require radical redesign.
