TBH this article is a bit unfair. It doesn't mention that AUKUS will create 20,000 jobs over 30 years. That's a mere 18 million dollars per job! Oh and passing command of the subs to the Pentagon means Australia won't have to keep track of its navy. Think about the savings!

My question to the ALP strategists today: Why would you stake your economic credentials on budget surpluses when YOU KNEW that a deficit was imminent?

Insane that Albo would risk his public housing origin story/narrative to spend (at best) a week over xmas in his new mansion. Surely one of his staff suggested that he could simply...wait until after the election to buy a 4 million dollar weekender? Rly dumb.

When Albo said he wanted to "kick with the wind in the last quarter" I thought he meant against the other team, not himself. The ALP's refusal to ban gambling ads is just another hapless 'own goal'. Even the most timid Blairites should see the ban as an electoral opportunity.

With Labor catapulting itself towards minority government you have to wonder...is it really wise for Albanese to dedicate so much of the Government's time to painting Greens MPs like @MChandlerMather as extremists? Talk about a gift for Dutton in the long-term...

@nosheepfool @sophfyfe I have dealt with the CFMEU on many occasions. Their members supported a campaign I helped coordinate to enshrine a right to public housing in NSW law. They’ve also sent contingents to support every social movement I’ve ever cared about. Aside from all that, they have cool merch.
