Does buying land make sense ? 1 acre example $10,000 an acre and pay cash Takes 30 yrs for the land to generate enough $$$ to pay for itself Or invest that 10,000 in the stock market for 30 yrs and that 10,000 is now $100,000 And in 30 yrs that one acre is now worth $20,000 an acre ??? Now let’s do it when you put $5343 down payment borrow $4657 so you have $300 an acre payments to bank for 30 yrs Pay $4343 in interest For a total of $14,343 invested into that 1 acre Value of land in 30 yrs $20,000 per acre ?? Now invest that down payment of $5343 for 30 yrs You will have $53,764

We’ve average around 15% moisture an 61.2# TW coming out of bins. Which begs question, we get docked quickly for having low TW but why don’t we get a premium for 61+ pound test weight? Especially since every metric of this is technically number 1 yellow not #2 yellow dent

@SawyerWhisler Paid for lan and low overhead, some combo of those 2. Easily a $100/acre swing in gross revenue in the corn belt between good marketers and poor ones. All of it factors in.

The farmers who are still standing after the last five years didn't survive because of government programs. They survived because they cut costs, diversified income, and made decisions that didn't depend on a check from Washington. Self-reliance isn't a political statement. It's a survival strategy.

Just gonna throw this out there but bringing Ammonium Nitrate production back online wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. It’s far superior over urea.

Going out on a (small) limb: Iowa State is a virtual lock for St. Louis. Nebraska would get sorted to OKC before St. Louis, the Michigan schools get sorted to Buffalo first, etc. ISU would essentially need to finish behind both Illinois and Purdue, which is hard to envision now.
