@joey_cranney This situation has become sadly even direr, given the problems facing some newspaper unions, such as @PGHGuild. I also understand there's not much money to go around if papers don't profit. We need huge changes to how we approach our systems, and I fear it won't come.

To help local reporting survive and, um, sustain democracy, buy a newspaper subscription. Your local paper, at least. Or give a subscription as a gift around the holidays!

Proving how reactions to nature are cultural/social, our daughter's Dutch boyfriend, knowing nothing of FL or nature, found a huge cockroach in the guest suite, cradled it gently in his hands and released it outside saying "Go free, beautiful creature." So now he must stay.

But until the MLB changes its economic structure like other major pro sports leagues, it will remain difficult for MLB teams in small markets to win.
