@michelletandler In fairness, maybe we’ve finally gotten beyond cancel culture, where people dig up nasty old comments. Yes, it has broken in favor of the left. But still.

@SantiagoAuFund Yes. Best time travel story in any medium. Somehow it solves the time travel fallacy.

The most underrated kind of cuisine is actually New American. In the 2010s, "American" restaurants upped their game like crazy -- much like Japanese restaurants did.

Huge shoutout to @Square for their contribution to Bitcoin merchant adoption. They single-handedly changed the slope of the graph.

Planting berry bushes is arguably one of the highest gardening ROIs and easiest to maintain. I currently have 10+ blackberries, 10 blueberry bushes, and 5 raspberries in my backyard and I still want to expand it further. Last year I picked >10lbs of blackberries alone. Didn’t weigh the blueberries and raspberries but probably 15lbs total (all organic). And the yields will increase every year. On top of all of that, all you basically have to do is water if it gets super hot and fertilize once a month. And the biggest benefit is it’s a great activity to do with your kids to get them outside and away from screens. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

My kids just ate $40 dollars worth of these berries...as a snack. It's so ridiculously expensive to put proper nutrition in them. No idea how people manage it, and if they don't, what the long term health consequences are.

My gaming philosophy. In the last years of his life, Roger Ebert famously claimed that games were "not art" (he was referring to computer games, but I'm sure he'd apply it elsewhere). He gave three reasons to back up his opinion. 1) he had never played a game 2) you can win a game 3) Art must consist of a single visionary. (This objection seems odd for a film reviewer, since films are famously collective projects.) Penny Arcade skewered Ebert with a single comment; "if a hundred artists create art for two years, how is the end product NOT ART?" 1/3

@TheRealFarley His last sentence is exactly right. I have been in confrontations with said humans where I had that exact thought. I was born in Portland and left because of that. It hurts my soul that it has come to this.

Let me help. Back in the 1950s and 60s, cars looked distinctively different depending on the company that produced it. You could look at a new car you'd never seen before and think "Huh, a new Chevy." And you'd be right. Starting in the 80s-90s, cars all started to become identical little jellybeans. I imagine the designers all went to the same schools or something. You couldn't tell anything apart except Mustangs, Volkswagens and some of the trucks. Another issue is that every car had to be white, gray, or black. (Yes I exaggerate. But not much. How often do you see a green car?) But the culture of "knowing what a car is" didn't totally die, so some people kept learning the new types. I think they're looney, but I do respect them. But until car designers stop having the exact same professors in school, I fear we'll be having this exact same problem.

It's so wild that there are people who can identify cars by sight. Like instead of "brown truck" or "grey sedan" everywhere they go they're all "that Mazda Myopia is turning left beside the 2017 Chevy Stigmata". It must be like seeing those colors only shrimp can see.

Dalio's mistake here is that he doesn't fully understand why central banks own gold. The reason they hold it is as protection against a speculative attack on their currency in the case gold becomes demonetized. Central banks have always viewed gold as a potential competitor to their sovereign currencies. Once Bitcoin achieves the same scale as gold (it will over time based on its significant comparative advantages over gold) central banks will be forced to own it for the same reason they own golf. Without ownership their national currency becomes vulnerable to a speculative attack from Bitcoin.
Simply Bitcoin@SimplyBitcoin

Ray Dalio just warned against Bitcoin: “No privacy.” “Central banks won’t buy it.” “Quantum risks.” “Small, controlled market.” Funny. Those same critiques were made at $100.

Friends, I am humbly requesting your prayers. Two weeks ago, during GI surgery, my dad’s doctors discovered lymphoma tumors. They have been spreading aggressively. Today, he started chemotherapy. He’s right next to me, currently getting his first dose of R-CHOP. If you would pray for him, my mom, and his doctors, my family and I would be grateful. His name is Brian and he’s the greatest man I’ve ever known. By the grace of God and with the support of a wonderful medical team, I’m confident he will beat this. Thank you 🙏
