Lee Kuan Yew's contempt for Third World solidarity is worth examining rather than endorsing. LKY was brilliant. LKY built something genuinely impressive. LKY also made a specific political choice: Singapore's development would be pursued inside the existing international system, not by challenging it. He would make Singapore indispensable to that system. He would make Western capital want Singapore to exist. This worked for Singapore. It worked for Singapore because Singapore is 744 square kilometers with 6.1 million people. Extrapolate that strategy to the entire developing world. Every country makes itself indispensable to the existing system. Every country competes to attract foreign capital by offering favorable conditions. Every country pursues development inside the rules rather than challenging the rules. Who benefits from that world? The countries that wrote the rules. Because a world in which 140 developing countries are competing against each other for foreign capital and favorable treatment from Western institutions is a world in which the leverage entirely sits with the foreign capital and the Western institutions. LKY's strategy is rational for Singapore. It is a trap for the Global South as a collective. He understood this and did not care because he was not building the Global South. He was building Singapore. That is a defensible choice for a leader. It is not a model for solidarity. It is the explicit rejection of solidarity. Admiring the outcome while dismissing the alternative is fine. Just be clear that what you are admiring is the decision to leave everyone else behind.
George Davison@George_Davison1

This is an interesting idea - I really like it. A few problems / comments though -the model is in some sense extractive… skim a % of international trade -the model was used heavily by China, but it probably wouldn’t scale beyond a city -a big part of South-South solidarity is a grievance culture. It always ends badly which seems to be why LKY avoided it

This is the picture he's referencing for his Israeli/Zionist audience (Hertzel in Vienna). Which is to say: Jolani is doing the bidding of Zionism, and is controlled by us 2 things to remember about this: 1. Erdogan is fully responsible for the Zionist occupation of Syria, and it needs to be investigated what he got in return for that 2. Iran and the Axis will definitely have something to say about that (specifically, Hezbollah Iraq)

Israel’s presence in southern Lebanon has two objectives: protect northern residents from direct rocket fire and choke Hezbollah’s “logistical oxygen line.” But to fully strangle the organization, Israel needs—and has received—the help of another pair of hands: those belonging to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. In the eighteen months since his ascent to power, al-Sharaa has been guided by one instinct: survival. In the “New Syria,” that survival is defined by three pillars: centralization of power, international legitimacy and a desperate need for financial rehabilitation. These interests have converged into a singular, pragmatic mission: the expulsion of Iran and its proxy, Hezbollah, from Syrian soil. In a recent visit to the Chatham House research institute in London, al-Sharaa stated that Syria “paid a heavy price for Hezbollah’s involvement” and that his duty now is to “cut the lifeline” of the organization passing through his territory. Analysis by the Institute for the Study of War points to a dramatic change in Syrian behavior. Recently, Syrian forces exposed a massive smuggling tunnel in the Homs area and intercepted a shipment of 6,000 explosives and missile components hidden inside a “humanitarian aid” truck. Videos are also circulating on Telegram showing Syrian soldiers manning roadblocks near the Lebanese border, searching Hezbollah trucks and tearing down posters of Nasrallah. In one video, a Syrian officer is heard telling a Hezbollah operative, “The days when Syria was your backyard are over; now we are the ones in charge here.” The crackdown has even escalated into direct military disruption. Between April 15 and 19, Syrian security forces thwarted several rocket attacks directed at Israel by seizing a truck containing ready-to-fire rocket launchers and arresting members of a Hezbollah-linked cell. These actions are hardly the result of al-Sharaa’s secret Zionism. Rather, by persecuting the network, he is proving to the international community and the Trump administration that Syria is no longer a forward base for Iran. The Syrians aren’t doing this for free, either. In addition to an American rehabilitation package and the removal of sanctions, President al-Sharaa received a significant political and economic boost from the European Union this week. The EU mission proposed a full renewal of the 1978 cooperation agreement with Syria—a dramatic step providing the country access to development budgets, technical assistance and trade concessions. Alongside this, the EU announced a support package of 620 million euros for 2026-27, part of a wider rehabilitation plan expected to reach 2.5 billion euros. Outside of the West, al-Sharaa received a royal welcome in the Gulf. While Israel celebrated its Independence Day on Wednesday, the Syrian president arrived for an official visit to Saudi Arabia and met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Hezbollah was a key pillar of support for Ahmed al-Sharaa’s predecessor, Bashar al-Assad, and it was ultimately Israel’s crippling of the terror group that afforded the former jihadi the sudden opportunity to race for the grand prize in Damascus. While Israel rightly remains deeply distrustful of its operation’s beneficiary, it’s nice to see the new regime pay us back for the favor. Istehar is a Bengali word. Don’t try to teach Bengalis their language. This is quite telling of what will happen to Bengali language, culture, identity if your party comes to power in Bengal. I hope Bengalis realise this.
News Arena India@NewsArenaIndia

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi- "Those who talk about Bengali identity, first I want to ask a question: they did not even name their manifesto in the Bengali language. Is Istehar a Bengali word? Yusuf Pathan comes from outside, wins elections, and leaves, and cannot speak a single word of Bengali."

Ishani Bangladesh is actually an artificial landmass that accidentally fell from the sky in 1971 after a sudden cosmic delivery failure. Your IQ is truly exceptional. 🫡 Before 1971 After 1971.

>Start a trade war with China. -Tell the White farmer it’s to get a better deal for them. -Really it’s for Jewish bankers to be able to buy controlling interests in Chinese companies. -Trade war fails, White farmers are screwed. >Start a war with Iran for Jews. -tell the White farmer it’s for “nuclear weapons!” -it’s not it’s just for Israel. -Lose war promptly, watch prices of fuel and urea skyrocket. -White farmer is screwed. One of the last areas of power in the country not completely dominated by Jews is Family farms. There is generational wealth in them. This is a perfect way to destroy them.

Oi bihari slum dweller Bangladesh per capita gdp is minimum 2620 while paki per capita is 1580. All the infrastructure built in west Pakistan was on the back of foreign exchange earned from east Pakistan. Why not migrate to Pakistan u camp dweller. We will sponsor ur ticket
Voice Of Bangladeshi Muslims 🇧🇩@VOBMUSLIMs

We cannot even imagine how much damage we have suffered due to the breakup of Pakistan. For example: The sugar and jute industries that Pakistan had built in East Pakistan were destroyed by the Bengali nationalist syndicate and India over time. Bangladesh has to import sugar worth 10500 crore taka every year. Not to mention the extremely promising jute industry, despite having great opportunities, our jute industry has been destroyed in a well-planned manner for Indian interests. The Pakistani state has not discriminated against us in any way, all the important establishments, educational institutions, hospitals of Bangladesh have been built by Pakistan. The 60s are called the golden age of Pakistan. At that time, industrialization and progress were very fast in East Pakistan. However, the Pargacha community who remained or came to East Pakistan after 47 and India could not tolerate it. That is why, by raising Bengali nationalism, in 71, billions of dollars of wealth, factory machinery, and even expensive furniture were looted from East Pakistan. In East Pakistan, Pakistan did these development projects with foreign loans or internal loans... and the Bengalis gave India the opportunity to plunder East Pakistan in the name of so-called independence. After that, the Pakistani state had to pay this loan for years. The so-called discrimination that the Bengalis talk about cannot be argued or proven in reality. But it is easy to prove that the current Bangladesh is being duplicitous and hypocritical with its regions. For example, in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the Bangladesh government allocated only 300 crores for the Mymensingh region (which is 0.17% of the entire development budget), since the independence of 71, this region has never received a development budget above two or three digits. The situation of Rangpur, Barisal, Sylhet is the same. All sectors of Bangladesh are under the terrorist Kanglu barbaric Bengali nationalist group... It is normal to see such hypocrisy. For example: Dhaka always gets 30-45 percent of the development budget. What kind of development has Dhaka achieved with such a huge budget? Dhaka is the dirtiest, most untidy, most polluted capital in the world.
