@Top100Rick As someone who gets onto quite a few courses more easily as a single, does being a single ever improve your odds here?

The 24 hour lottery! Sadly the all night queue is gone, but you can still submit a singles ballot the day before. It must be in person and it’s non-transferable. Peak season the odds are low, so don’t count on winning. April and November your odds are much better. Simply go to the Old Course starter shack or the main St Andrews clubhouse and go to the waiting digital screen. I’m 0-4 with this method…but I got on via the waitlist on my 3rd attempt by hanging out in the shack and being nice to everyone.

Is one of America’s greatest golf courses hiding in plain sight? Imagine a golf course designed and built by Harry Colt, CH Alison, and Alister MacKenzie. Imagine it’s built right on the sea and has one of the greatest holes, The Gibraltar, still there. Imagine if Tom Doak has offered his design services for free if the course would be restored. Sadly, now imagine it’s been butchered by turning 18 holes into 27 and destroying all the natural sandy areas. Timber Point on Long Island remains a great public course for the masses. With 70,000 rounds a year, it’s truly a public golf haven. But it could be so much more. It could be the area’s Bethpage Black, except even better. Normal players could play a true top 100 world course, a piece of golf history. Can it happen? The odds are low, but it’s not impossible. There are people fighting for it now. One can dream…

@MidwestGolfJake @JacksonTweetin I've made a few daytrips to Bandon (live not far away) and have never failed to secure a tee-time. You might not get to play immediately, or even at the course of your choosing, but there always are open spots for singles. Plenty of great practice facilities while waiting too!

I really want to go to Bandon*...but man they make it difficult. Is it really worth the level of hassle required to get lodging and tee times? *Happy to join anyone's trip 🙂

The case for trees in pro golf! Rory with a 270 yard punch shot under the tree. This kind of working the ball only happens because of trees or extreme wind. Yes trees shouldn’t engulf golf courses, but should be used when interesting! Save the trees!

The Blue Course at Congressional has plenty of major championship tradition. Its muscular topography, inventive design, and top-of-the-line conditioning will be on display in today's final round of the Senior PGA Championship.
