Mega Evolution is about to get worse before it gets WAY better...just like what happened in Scarlet & Violet Scarlet & Violet Era launched with SV Base (a fantastic set btw), Paldea Evolved and then Obsidian Flames. Then Pokemon dropped a bombshell set, a half set without a Booster Box, in 151 We are seeing a similar setup with the Mega Evolution Era. ME Base (an amazing Base set, one of the best we have ever seen in a long while), Phantasmal Flames (Obsidian Flames) and now a bombshell half set in Ascended Heroes. But what launched after 151, a mix of weak sets with a sprinkle of hot garbage (Shrouded Fable). I think Mega Evolution Block is entering into the weak sets with a sprinkle of hot garbage phase with the Introduction of Perfect Order. (Meowth SIR...ugh) We have confirmation that the next main set after Perfect Order will be named Chaos Rising. In reality we know little to nothing about it just yet but what does not bode well is the set will also be relatively small and feature only 1 Japanese Set making up our English set. Just like Perfect Order and Phantasmal Flames. Not a lot of room for error or variety when featuring only 1 Japanese Set. Chaos Rising seems like it will be highlighted by Greninja. Not a bad Pokemon to highlight a set. After all, look at Twilight Masquerade and the Greninja SIR of that set. Arguably it marked the beginning of a historic run of Pokemon Sets though. Shrouded Fable (ew), Stellar Crown (not so much), but Surging Sparks, Prismatic Evolutions, Journey Together, Destined Rivals, Black Bolt & White Flare. We know the next Japanese Sets after Ninja Spinner (English Chaos Rising). Will be Abyss Eye (Darkai maybe?), Storm Emeralda (Rayquaza?) and Celebration Collection (30th Anniversary Set) Pokemon TCG may be in for a bit of a hiccup in set quality immediately after Ascended Heroes. BUT Q3 & Q4 looks REALLY exciting for future set releases.
