Been in design for quite a bit, and yellow is still the color that messes me up the most. Like, I genuinely love it. It's bright and warm, and nothing else feels quite like it. But it's also so unforgiving, too dark, and it gets muddy, too light, and it just fades away. There's like a tiny window where it actually works, and it's so satisfying when you find it. I don't think I'll ever stop using yellow, but I don't think I'll ever stop struggling with it either. Anyway, go design some yellow.

After 5 Workday applications I was like you know what... maybe, unemployment is fine actually 🙂 But why does no tool exist where you can just save your full application once and reuse it across companies, it’s literally the same form and same questions every single time?? If this already exists, pleaseee end my suffering

@LukeADesign It is not at all controversial. I’ve always told people at work that colors are very different between illustrator and figma. It doesn’t match. And yet here we are 🫠

Figma is terrible for print. Might sound controversial, but it's a fact, and those who work in print will agree. Figma operates natively in RGB, a colour space built for screens. Print operates in CMYK, what looks right on your monitor won't look the same when it comes off a press. The colours shift, the vibrancy drops, and unless you're using plugins to convert, you're essentially not sure how it'll come out. So if you need to design for print, use Illustrator. Then, set up your file: 1. Make sure your file is set up in the CMYK colour profile 2. Depending on the print size, make sure all your images are 300dpi 3. Don't forget bleed, 3mm as a minimum. You don't want white edges on your prints

@Zeda96 I have a love-hate relationship with yellow. It looks great if done right, but it's pretty tricky to work with. Somehow, it always ends up in all my designs. And thanks for the recc, I'll definitely check it out.

Starting to explore visual direction for a new real estate business, and the best part for this one is figuring out the color system. The business itself has a pretty human purpose at its core, but also needs to speak to investors, so I'm trying to find colors that somehow hold both of those things at once. When I shifted to Koramangala, Bangalore, I observed a visible decline in my ability to function at work. I couldn't do deep work, focus or handle stress. I also observed that I wasn't enjoying my meals as much. Tried many things - reduced coffee, eliminated milk from diet, increased workout, sun exposure, etc. Nothing worked. Then, spent some time for a work event at a hotel where I consumed only Bisleri water. And found myself to be very energetic. Gut and mental health felt better. It has been 4 years since that event and I have been consuming only Bisleri water. The 20L cans are quite affordable.

Tried it out. So the product scans stuff, then it shows Reddit tells me people post about my company, surfaces competitors I already knew about ages ago, wraps it in a dashboard, and wants me to scream “OMG we saved $60k. At this point I’m convinced half of startup hype is just polished demos. How’s this the “ultimate CMO” for me

@AlexAperios Actually I had this happen. Logo done, identity design done, colors done, but then client asked what would it look like as a pitch deck for their investors. Had to really go back and re-think things. Huge learning there.

Working on a brand identity right now and I'm already thinking past the finish line. Most designers hand over a folder of logos and call it done. The brand looks great on the case study. Then the client makes a PowerPoint and it's gone. The real work is making sure they can run with it. I give clients: → Loom walkthroughs of the brand system → Figma templates built for their workflow → Deck stacks they can open tomorrow → Canva assets for the team who'll never open Figma A brand only works if the people using it feel confident. That's part of our job too!
