@itsnicolefegan I can’t see all the titles clearly but Rebecca jumped straight out at me. It’s really well written, but for a slump also a page turner in my opinion.

@Tom_Smithard @BarbicanCentre I’ve been reading people’s comments on here and thought I was at a different production. Agree here, I was glad I managed to get a ticket, I did enjoy it but I actually preferred the JL version, everyone individually was good here but lacked some chemistry.

The Seagull @BarbicanCentre has an amusing central performance from Cate Blanchett but the production is uneven & only comes alive when providing pinpoint satire of modern theatre. With its 2 mics & occasional no shoes, Chekhov's gun seems aimed directly at Jamie Lloyd's Seagull.

@MycroftBrolly @oldvictheatre @HofeshCo Totally agree, Varma underused and for me whilst I enjoyed the dance elements, they went on for too long - at one point I questioned if there was more dance than script.

#Oedipus @oldvictheatre. This production had some strong and stunning elements - the dance and music by @HofeshCo. But it was badly let down by a very weak performance (lacking emotion and depth) by Rami Malek, unconvincing in the title role. Disappointing.

Have seen: - Roehampton (too close) - Winchester (quite liked) Prob whole spectrum of ABB-BCC (allowed to share). We’re homeschooling A levels so have no real idea how it will pan out.

I just dipped into @VHTroyansky talking about his new book w/ @TurkishAnglo. Oral, micro and family history, coupled with two of my favourite geographical areas - it has ended my self imposed embargo on Twitter whilst I convinced myself I was done with historical scholarship.

I asked my students in my #Microhistories MA module at @BirkbeckHCA to find a primary source and come up with a pitch for a microhistory that started with that source. The results were brilliant! Here's a thread of their ideas, shared with permission... (1/?)🧵

Accompanied my son and 10 of his 16 year old mates to Turkey. They’ve embraced everything and been a dream. Their love for @migros though is truly special. @MarinturkAVM en route to home.

@RebeccaRideal When I ask 13y if they are ok you would think I asked them to go work a day in the mine and take the rubbish out on their way. Good news from 16y and 18y is it appears to pass.

@Rose_Farbrother @DannRead I didn’t notice this today at The Cherry Orchard (congrats, was fab), but at Romeo and Juliet up the road - the inability of people to not eat crisps, loud packs of sweets, constantly checking their phone for 90 mins until interval was astounding.

Caught the penultimate show this afternoon. Close, intense production - bookshelf and the end pile of carpet so well done. I want to recommend it, but unless you can catch the 19.30 this evening you’ve missed it.
