@DylanMEdwards1 Yes, so pleased to get that second chance after the disappointment at Point of Ayr. Couldn't believe when l arrived at the hide to find the bird had flown only minutes after receiving positive news from my mate Dylan as we crossed on the access path !

@Zeiss40 So glad you got it mate …. I have been in work all the time since Simon found it . Think I might have been experiencing heart failure if I hadn’t seen it at Point of Ayr 🫣🫣😫😂

After missing the Bufflehead by minutes at Point of Ayr on the 8th December we were grateful for a second chance early this morning at Foryd Bay, Gwynedd. The bird could hardly have showed better in the small pools behind the raised sea barriers. Very happy.

A mad dash to the Point of Ayr this afternoon for the Bufflehead proved fruitless as we managed to miss the bird by a few minutes. Seen to fly right from the hide around 2.20pm. Hoping it turns up again soon.

Only ever having had one poor view of a Lapland Bunting before, on the Gt Orme, it was a thrill to have super views of the Leasowe bird earlier this morning. Others will have the photographs, l was just delighted to have been there !

@cw_glanfield The bird was actually on the fence near the horse but flew off just before l touched the button. The photo is just for context.

@Zeiss40 I don’t mean to be critical but I’m sure that’s actually a horse you’re photographing.

Heavy rain early this morning at Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve later gave way to bright sunshine and a super view of the Yellow-browed Warber not far the John Morgan hide on no.3 bed. Also large numbers of other birds present amongst the thick vegetation.

A flying visit to Spurn yesterday for the Black-faced Bunting. A 40 minute walk down past the breach not for the faint hearted ! A few brief views, made tricky by the jostling crowd restricted to the width of the narrow single lane road. Not the best, but a new uk tick !

A leisurely trip to Llanfairfechan turned into something slightly more focused when news of the still present White-rumped Sandpiper at Malltraeth came through early morning. Not showing on arrival but 75 minutes later, magically reappeared on Cob Pool before flying to the beach

Why do Liverpool fans boo the national anthem everytime it's played ? Maybe they should be banned from the English game if that's how they feel about their country.

I saw this strange wader in Lough Atalia, Co. Galway, yesterday evening. My immediate in the field thought was Common Sandp however the bill looked too long and fine. I'm thinking it's possibly a Red-Necked Phalarope?!

A trip to Wykeham this morning to see the Ortolan Bunting turned out to be anything but easy, the bird being elusive to say the least ! Luckily l chose the right place to stand to see the bird on the ground shortly after arrival at 8.30. Later, others had occasional glimpses.

A very early start this morning for the Song Sparrow at Flamborough proved fruitless and particularly frustrating as l could have - and should have, gone for the bird yesterday afternoon. Plenty of other birds in the gully but not the star of the show. Lovely day though.

Lunchtime with the Woodchat Shrike at Daresbury, Cheshire. No usual top of the bush photos here, for a time, this one took a liking to a power pylon at the edge of the canal. Photos by Dave Spencer.

Visited the lovely Kiftsgate Court Gardens at Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire yesterday. Amazed to see so many Ravens enjoying the strong breeze and tumbling for fun from the tall pines at the edge of the escarpment facing the Malvern Hills

How's this for unusual. A pair of Albino or Albinistic (?) Coot chicks photographed yesterday morning by a friend while fishing on a pool near Leigh in Lancs.
