I think the much better approach would be to focus on making it safer for that person. If you make it safe enough for them, they'll naturally take their walls down and will be intimate and vulnerable with you. In all long-lasting relationships, each partner has to take responsibility for the emotional environment they create for the other. That's the real key to making things work with anyone long-term.
