🚨 IRAN DEMANDS CONTROL OF HORMUZ IN WAR TALKS WITH US Iran has demanded sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz in its latest proposal to the US aimed at ending the war, according to state media. The key oil shipping route has been effectively blocked since fighting with the US and Israel began in February, disrupting exports from Gulf producers including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Iran and Oman both hold Exclusive Economic Zones in the strait, but under international law, foreign ships retain the right of “innocent passage” through the waterway.

@BiggusDick49490 @DeItaone Fair point. But two wrongs don’t make a sovereign strait. Iran claiming international law only when it’s convenient doesn’t make the claim less dangerous for the other 15 countries whose exports depend on that passage.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Trump said Iran's navy was "lying at the bottom of the sea, obliterated." That's technically true and almost entirely irrelevant. What the U.S. destroyed was Iran's conventional navy, a handful of aging corvettes and 2 broken Russian submarines that experts called a "parade ground force." Nobody was afraid of it. What remains intact is the mosquito fleet. Between 500 and 1,000 fast-attack speedboats hidden in coves, caves, and tunnels along Iran's southern coastline, operated by the IRGC, practicing swarm tactics they've been refining since the 1980s. Iran doesn't need to sink ships to win, all it needs is to keep insurance markets nervous enough that nobody wants to try.
