This Memorial Day I’d like to remember my friend LTC Rocky Baragona. Rocky was a West Point grad, an Ordnance/Logistics officer, a paratrooper and a profoundly gifted logistician. I served with him in the 82nd when we were both majors, he was the best airborne logistician I ever met, and he was always patient in training the new guy (me). He was not tall, he never married, his uniform was often wrinkled, his boots were muddy in garrison and his incredibly dry sense of humor threw a lot of people. But he would do anything before he let the paratroopers he supported go without food, water, ammo, serviceable gear or Level II+ medical/surgical care, right on the drop zone. If you are a logistician in the 82nd, you train to jump into an airfield seizure with what we called the “Alpha Echelon.” Enough brigade-level supplies for 48 hours get heavy-dropped or CDSed in with you, along with a surgical team and surgical equipment suite. You can make fun of us loggies all you want, but in the 82nd we were right there in the dirt with the 11Bs, and Rocky was the best at it I ever knew. Rocky’s battalion command was not in the 82nd, it was in a corps-level maintenance battalion. Rocky died in Iraq, early on in OIF, not from enemy action, but from a contracted Kuwaiti 18 wheeler running over his command HMMWV while he was in it. I highlight Rocky today not just because he was a friend, not just because he was awesome, but to also remind everyone that the military is a dangerous business no matter what you are doing, and dead is dead. Rest in peace Rocky. All the way. Airborne. And thanks for the mentorship.

"The gaming community funded Star Citizen since 2012, but they actually funded future gaming technology." Most people who fund future gaming technology expect to be paid for it. "I emptied the 7/11's cash-register. But I consider that it funded these wicked-cool Air Jordans."
Parrot’s World@ParrotGaming69

A reflection on Chris Roberts, Star Citizen, Squadron 42 and Cloud Imperium Gaming (CIG) as people discuss the company passing $1 Billion in crowd funding. The gaming community funded Star Citizen since 2012, but they actually funded future gaming technology. Some examples: 1) Chris Roberts built Star Engine to allow MMO ( CryEngine and even the new UnReal engine has under performed in running MMO games). Star engine allows for seamless transitions without loading screens. 2) New server meshing technology 3) Developing AI that learns from and challenges player. Possibly allowing AI to enable NPC to generate their own missions for players. 4) Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) developed their own intricate mix of performance capture and technical animation department. 5) custom orchestras/ cinematic music. 6) not to mention Squadron 42 development … second stand alone game. Many things are going on at CIG, not just Star Citizen. Let’s assess some other Game developers: Grand Theft Auto VI: Estimated to have cost between $1billion and $2billion to develop and market prior to its release. Genshin Impact: Has cost upwards of $900million to develop and support through frequent, massive updates since 2020. Monopoly Go!: Reportedly cost over $1billion to develop and heavily market in its first few years. What Chris Roberts did was build a gaming company, created the foundation for new technology and then built the game to run off that said new tech. CIG has developed more than just a game. It’s laying the foundation for a new type of gaming. #Squadron42 #StarCitizen @RobertsSpaceInd #Gaming #GameDevelopment #News

@ComradeArthur Yup, I picked it up after reviewers came back and said that it had been corrected. It's a fantastic game now.

@ZeroTBill The "no man's sky" story is impressive. wild how they saved the game and now, I understand, it's actually good.

@ComradeArthur still astounds me that star citizen is still happening. No Man's Sky was able to fix itself after years of development post-release. I wonder if 5 years after post-release Squadron 42 will be good.

"CIG has developed more than just a game. It’s laying the foundation for a new type of gaming." The type of game where you pay for it but don't play it. That's not new, that's most of my steam library!

This article was written last week. Thank you @thetimes for helping me prove the damages done by the DOJ overcharging me and creating a false narrative that has persisted for 5 years.

NEW VIDEO: I'm running contrary to the pack here, I know, but The Adventures of Elliot is a game with a lot of promise that's held back by an incredibly aggravating design decision. Do you agree? Let me know here! youtu.be/d75W88ay1uw

She wrote a church pamphlet on marriage and sexuality in 2004. This year, the Finnish Supreme Court used that pamphlet to convict her of “hate speech.” Thank you @ShannonBream for highlighting Päivi Räsänen’s shocking story—and Europe’s censorship crisis—on @FoxNewsSunday.

Don't think I'll invest in the SpaceX IPO. The SP500 won't let you in without a year after the IPO and posting a net profit. Seems reasonable with all the unknowns before an IPO happens.

On our way to Bangor, Maine for a rally with @grahamformaine. The crises facing our country are too serious for establishment politics and tinkering around the edges. We need candidates like Graham who will take on the greed of the oligarchs and deliver for working families.

To Democrats, politics is religion. The media are their prophets. And cancelling Stephen Colbert's show was like telling a Christian that Sunday services are perpetually cancelled. My article below explains, in a historical context.
