@DMP_Eng I have no idea wtf's going on here lmao. Also, English client is out?! DM only got to set 3~4 here and no one played it, so most I played was the video games. Aggro was stuff like this guy while the defender had overcosted blockers/removals and like 3 good triggers.

Duel Masters Play's - English Patch (MF ZORO)
There's been a lot of discussion lately about what the ideal resource system for a TCG looks like I've always felt that Duel Masters was really ahead of its time in many ways All cards doubling as resources, the shield/trigger system, and the design philosophy that all you need is just a deck of cards You can see these design philosophies spread across a lot of modern TCGs today
Saffron Olive@SaffronOlive

Every TCG is going to have non-games. Non-games are the result of variance which is something TCG's need. Some people feel like Magic's non-games are worse because the variance comes from the mana system, so a MTG non-game is "you don't play you cards." In reality this is no more of a non-game than some Hearthstone card doing something random to kill you out of nowhere, but Magic takes more heat for it because it feels worse. It's basically the same concept as how in Commander you can Doom Blade your opponent's commander and it's fine, but if you counter it they get salty. The result is the same, but the Doom Blade gives you the illusion that you were actually making progress and doing something. It tricks you into thinking your decisions mattered, but really they didn't. Non-games in other TCG's do a better job of giving you this illusion, to tricking you into thinking that they aren't really non-games because you are taking game actions and doing things. But really they are the same as getting mana screwed.

@MBTYuGiOh "Mana" itself doesn't need to exist, but some resource system is. We can see how YuGiOh ended up. Some games just take a cool spin on how to handle mana, like Elestrals, Duel Masters or Runeterra. Manaless TCGs are rather rare, but some like CFVanguard do it quite well.

@CUnit123123 @SaffronOlive That's more of an issue with YuGiOh as a whole, where all of the action is done in one or two turns each. A turn takes ages, and a turn can change everything. In other games, the first few turns tend to be very basic, with 1~5 cards played each turn. Non-games are quickly obvious

@SaffronOlive I have played quite a few TCG games over the years and I think YuGiOh non-games feel the worse because their turns can be so long where as in magic you still cant do much or anything in non games but turns are quite a bit quicker than yugioh

@KozmicPlays Duel master was peak. Combat/life management was a bit shite, but knowing you can always do your land drops makes games a lot smoother. Heard a digital client's coming at the end of this summer, will gladly give it a try for nostalgia alone.

@pcgamer To be fair, one shouldn't expect updates from them, given they abandoned their previous games despite major bugs being left in.

@LarryBundyJr Wildfrost's a roguelike where after you beat the final boss, you become possessed and turn into the final boss your next run will have to overcome. You can make it quite challenging for yourself that way.

Can anyone think of a game where the twist is YOU are the final boss? Only one that comes to mind for me is Shadow of the Colossus. (Though the bad ending to Resident Evil 9 totally missed an opportunity there)

Freelancer: "Kill fee applies. 75% of the remaining balance." Client: "For work you haven't delivered?" Freelancer: "For work that's completely done." Client: "We're not paying for something we're not using." Freelancer: "Section 5. It's been ready since Monday." Kill fee paid. Cancelling the day before delivery is still cancelling. Done work has the same value whether it gets used or not.

@appalachia69420 @Merkaloid @HazelAppleyard The question really is "what is part of the location, how far does it extend". Like if you have a house near a forest, is your (wild) backyard eligible? What if you get closer/farther? Same here if you define your spot as "the few feet of ground within the tube", good enough?

@Zerodaim @Merkaloid @HazelAppleyard "must be a naturally occuring location on dry land." I'd say pumping a coulmn of water to make it the ground dry is not naturally occuring. If you want to try the sea bed route, hopefully you live near one of the areas with ridiculous tide differences.

@appalachia69420 @Merkaloid @HazelAppleyard Technically, that could work if you use a giant tube to enclose and drain that spot. The spot was always there, like a river bed getting dry during heat waves. While the tube around it did not naturally appear there, the spot you stand on itself did. And no digging required.
