@AzraelSch @KeruboSk Cancelation applies to anything work inn progress. many contracts have a clause saying the work still needs to be paid inn some capacity delivered or not, as long as it's the client that cancelled the order. Any person hates their time being wasted when money is on the line.

@KeruboSk Why does this person think Cancellation Fees are a thing? It's not for after you already got the product and didn't like it.

Client: "We've decided not to proceed. Cancelling the project." Freelancer: "Delivery was tomorrow." Client: "Something came up internally." Freelancer: "Kill fee applies. 75% of the remaining balance." Client: "For work you haven't delivered?" Freelancer: "For work that's completely done." Client: "We're not paying for something we're not using." Freelancer: "Section 5. It's been ready since Monday." Kill fee paid. Cancelling the day before delivery is still cancelling. Done work has the same value whether it gets used or not.

@rhiyddun @0xlelouch_ Yes i believe that is correct, C was bootstraped a long time ago so most C compilers are written in C with some parts still in assembly, same as many other low level languages which have compilers made with its own language

@C131Sanchez @nixcraft Inn theory it should work on any Linux that supports the commands it sends to the pc, mainly using HID and a command shell. It works by sending keystrokes on insertion.

RP2350 based usb to show the ip address of the Respberry Pis it is connected to. It has four display lines: hostname, Wi‑Fi (wl*), Ethernet (en*/eth*), and two “other” slots for additional detected interfaces. You just insert it and it will show it. It is fully open source.

@DannyWolfofTech i dont think github is going anywear, but i think compile doc's need to be better inn many repos. there are way to many variables inn that regard. Github already is a big distributer of misc software, it serve a dual purpos both as a co development hub, and a distribution hub

@DannyWolfofTech @Azadux the counter argument to that is, if ur a developer and distributing software, make it as easy as feasible for the end user or other devs, some project u would need to be a mentalist or ask to be given a instructions on how to compile, somthing that shoul be written in the docs.

@Kyvlash @thiojoe @grok IMO its never not having precombiles bianries. its mostly that most times the compile instructions ranges from workabel, to pure and utter hocus pocus if there even are writen anything. if its meant to be a personal project i dont care, but bigger project really grinds my gears.

@thiojoe I literally have Ai like @grok produce scripts that install them. But at the same time the problem with compiling it yourself is you keep the extra files afterwards you only needed then. And they appear in your App Menus.

@FFmpeg Looks like alot of friction out of the gate for new people, but hey if it works it works, any reason for not accepting PR's, but rather patches trough the mailinglist? or is it just hard to migrate over?

@mtc @FFmpeg one could integrate IRC alongside a VOIP service. dont belive it would to hard to make a client that can talk to both. but i dont know if it would be worse or better than a service that does both

@FFmpeg You can bridge IRC to Discord. IRC was fun in the 90s, but between DDOS/hacks, netsplits, and the lack of voicecall it's kind of a relic outside of specialty purposes.

Did you know FFmpeg development still uses IRC for live chat? We don't use modern (and arguably worse) equivalents like Slack and Discord. For those who don't know what IRC is here is an explanation: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRC

Arguably the most brilliant engineer in FFmpeg left because of this. He reverse engineered dozens of codecs by hand as a volunteer. Then security "researchers" and corporate employees came along repeatedly insisted "critical" security issues were fixed immediately waving their CVEs. This was hugely demotivating to the fun and enjoyment of reverse engineering.

@JamesRLandrum @hot_labor @imag0r @FFmpeg OSS or rather FOSS, dos not say anything about how to manage and lable a project, its simply dictates the nature of said project, what would u call FFMPEG, if not for its name? a logo and name makes for better recognition.

You already lock your shit down with a restrictive license, if you think this is some sort of demand or that a few thousand is too little for a volunteer driven org… I’m so tired of this shit, and so glad I use this shit almost never (if not absolutely never) in my daily life.
FFmpeg@FFmpeg

After politely requesting a support contract from Microsoft for long term maintenance, they offered a one-time payment of a few thousand dollars instead. This is unacceptable. We didn't make it up, this is what @microsoft @microsoftteams actually did: #comment:4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/10341#c

@a_cerbic @whisperity @FFmpeg the problem is not starting a company, it's trying to convert a license over,FOSS often start's as small hobby project's, and then explode after the fact, so it not as easy as saying they should just have made it paid to begin with, mabey then we would't had FFMPEG Hindsight 20/20
