50 years ago today, we had perhaps the greatest on-field moment in history that didn’t involve any baseball action. Tom Rinaldi explains what happened in Dodger Stadium on April 25, 1976 with Rick Monday.

I have made it very clear that I no longer support Trump and I’m very thankful to him for making it clear that I have nothing to do with him. The new Trump is a rotting husk of the old Trump. I hope 47 enjoys Mark Levine being his spirit animal..

Please pray for the repose of Hannah’s soul. She was a student and record-breaking swimmer at Ave Maria University. She tragically suffered a catastrophic brain bleed and died on Easter Sunday.

@BreeSolstad I can’t be the only one noticing the spontaneous brain bleed trend. Two people I know in the last 2 months have gotten it. One died, the other has serious brain damage…. Is it 5G 🤷‍♀️ what is happening??

We need to pray and find time for moments of silence and reflection, in order to quiet the frenzy of doing and saying, of messages, reels and chats, and to delve deeper into and savor the beauty of truly and genuinely being together with God and one another. #ApostolicJourney

From Fox News: Iran has increased executions and arrests across the country as the United States continues strikes in the Middle East. Mooné Rahimi, a student and activist previously arrested by the morality police, said the regime is using fear tactics to hold the nation "hostage."

I continue to follow the situation in the Middle East with dismay. Like other regions of the world, it is torn apart by war and violence. We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many defenseless victims of these conflicts. What wounds them wounds all of humanity. The death and pain caused by these wars is a scandal for the entire human family and a cry that rises to God!

The Greek philosopher Pythagoras is remembered today as the serene sage of geometry—the man who taught the world that in a right triangle the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides. What is less widely remembered is that the ancient Greek world was not a quiet university campus. It was a landscape of rival cities, mercenaries, and constant war. Philosophers, merchants, poets, and mathematicians all lived in the same turbulent society, and many of them knew the spear as well as the stylus. Did Pythagoras personally march into battle? We cannot say for certain. The surviving sources—written centuries later—tell us far more about his mathematics, his strange philosophical brotherhood in southern Italy, and his belief that numbers governed the universe. But he lived in a Greek world where nearly every free man was expected to defend his city. So while history remembers the triangles, it is not impossible that at some point the great mathematician also had to put down the chalk, pick up a spear, and hope the angles worked out in his favor. © Pivotal Historical Moments fan #archaeohistories

@elonmusk @ArtemisConsort We have to be able to grow our own food, produce our own energy and use real recycling products in order to survive. Must have a recycling negative airflow capacity, as well if we aren't going to have as many trees, greenery to do the CO2/O2 exchange.

@elonmusk @ArtemisConsort Your idea of going to Mars is further than anyone needs to go. Solve what needs to be accomplished to provide a self-sustaining atmosphere within a leak-proof artificial earth, away from earth, but with the ability to become engaged into an orbit within our solar system.

Possibly my bleakest take (that I hope is wrong) is that governments all suck now because nuclear weapons prevent war, or even the credible threat of war, between major powers. So there’s no external/evolutionary/market pressure on governments to not suck.
Marko Jukic@mmjukic

In 10+ years of hoping for positive developments in governance, empirically we have only gotten obvious improvements in, like, El Salvador, and that's it. "Gross Domestic Governance" is stagnant or negative everywhere. We are living through a global governance great depression.

@arezki1228 I was elated to learn Denmark is doing this. Bats (and bees) are important to this rock we call home. I like that bats around here eat mosquitoes! I wonder if the red lights allow people to see stars better at night? I remember being able to see the Milky Way at night.
