I was browsing VGMdb and found this game. WHAT IN THE BLAZES IS THAT COMPOSER LINEUP?! They got many ex-Square, Lufia, Tales, SMT & Persona composer, and even Naoki Kaneda the ex-Falcom is there... It's on Steam, described as dungeon-crawler JRPG. Might've to wishlist this.

@kyfareek @EmperorZetta @LostMemeArchive I'm reminded of when Yoshi P likened the term "JRPG" to a "slur," as JP devs had been gaslit by western gaming press into believing mechanics from older games were bad. DeS brought back many older, punishing mechanics that respected player intelligence and people loved it.

@ZetaBlade @EmperorZetta @LostMemeArchive it's not historical revisionism. many japanese franchises experienced very shitty or very questionable period during ps3 era. yakuza, resident evil, final fantasy, silent hill, dmc, castlevania. for every miracle like demon souls there were another three shitty japanese games

Fez was one of the most loved indie games of its era. Then its sequel was suddenly cancelled after developer Phil Fish got into a brutal argument online. He tweeted that Fez 2 was cancelled and locked his account. A whole game basically died in a Twitter fight.

Nintendo DS games you never knew: Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ is a 2008 rail shooter By JoyUp. It was only physically released in the USA, and in Europe only as DSi Ware. It was never released in Japan in any form. You can play as Red Riding Hood or Momotarō

The dedication behind this Vampire Princess Miyu OVA Blu Ray from Animeigo is next level. I kinda hope the issues get sorted out before it ships but if it doesn't....... it will make for a historic and weird experience that's for sure. I might commission my good friend @Professor_Irony to make me some awesome cover art! #Anime #PhysicalMedia #BluRay

Releasing an anime on Blu-Ray with no art because Japan won't approve the box is so funny. Props to AnimEigo for going that far.

@St1ka @djpyscho10646 Modern Hollywood completely lacks the cultural impact it previously held. They are now trend chasers instead of trailblazers. Even the concept of "Hollywood Star" is a dying breed.

@djpyscho10646 Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention to modern anime, but I miss when anime was inspired by movies (and the occasional western novel). Now it seems that anime mostly draws influence from itself and mmorpgs

Many players have said that Pragmata feels like a PS3-era game, and the developers see that as a positive. In an interview with GamesRadar+, director Cho Yonghee said: “We love when you say it feels like a PS3 game.” Producer Naoto Oyama explained that it was “a time when a lot of different developers and publishers were experimenting.” The PS3 and Xbox 360 era was known for original ideas and new IPs that took creative risks. This is why some players compare Pragmata to that era. For the developers, the comparison is a compliment because it reflects the creativity and experimentation that defined many memorable games from the PS3 generation.

You have to put this in context. Capcom had left Mega Man to dry for years. They blew the highly wished Mega Man Legends 3 and blamed the community for that instead of admiting their focus groups said the game was not gonna sell, they showed box art megaman in the X Tekken crossover, fans were angry as hell!. Inafune who's known to be more of a salesman than anything else, saw his chance to capture his share of a movement that sold the idea of picking up what big companies were forgetting and bringing it anew. Called his artist buddies and held a nice contests for the Roll equivalent, brought an idea that was always there on Mega Man, that the weapons were not simply palette swaps and all... and then it all fell apart piece by piece. Poor social network management, long spaces of time with no communications, a development that was honestly far longer than expected -though people kinda knew-... all of that would've been forgiven!... if the result wasn't so... lackluster. IGA did a whole lot better with bloodstained, keep it relevant, keep showing things... Inafune and the group behind MN9 were just... hoping to ride the wave of nostalgia and that was for certain not enough.
Lost Internet@LostMemeArchive

Mighty No. 9 was supposed to be the spiritual successor to Mega Man. Fans funded it, hyped it, and waited through delay after delay. By the time it released, the excitement had turned into disappointment. It became one of gaming’s biggest “never trust the Kickstarter hype” stories.
