Just thinking about @deekaymotion's DeePles. I'm feeling more momentum for DeePles as the days pass. DeePles is not a typical NFT drop, where everything gets minted in one shot. It is an ongoing project that will grow over time both in participation and also deeper dimensions. I predict we'll soon be able to place our DeePles in "locations" and hopefully meet other DeePles in the Deeple-verse (these are just my guesses!). I also predict that it is these types of personalized ongoing networked projects that will be the blow out success on Shape L2s in terms of number of participants and financial success. 1/1s will have their place (@SHL0MS is a case in point) as well as editions, but projects like DeePle will be the cornerstone of the next wave. And it doesn't come out of nowhere, it is a progression from what developed in ETH L1. The OG of OG projects, Cryptopunks, has both the identity and artistic elements. The archetype of the interactive and collector engagement element comes from @jackbutcher's Checks which I think is built upon the foundation of Cryptopunks, and also has the element of onchain events (i.e. burns) happening continuously after the initial mint. And now DeePles, which I think takes it to the next level and goes beyond just the primitive action of "burning". It has personalization, ongoing onchain actions, and artistic integrity with @deekaymotion at the center of the project, which I think is absolutely key. My guess is that this or a variant of it will be the blueprint for the next generation of NFT projects. It has the potential to break the "10K" barrier and be successful at 100K or maybe 1M mint sizes, where before if projects tried to go that large it would fail because of lack of scarcity or other secondary market dynamics, or even more basic reasons than that, like transaction speed and high gas prices, something which L2s help alleviate. Now all of this is just one man's guess and we are only two weeks into Shape, but the most promising part is that Shape and DeePles has got me thinking about the future and what it could be. I have to imagine that I'm not the only with this on their mind, so feels like a solid start.
