I just really want to quit law (bc particularly bad pupillage round) and really love the profession (bc just spent the day talking about housing legal aid) at the same time and I don’t know what to do with myself 🥲

I’m once again really poorly from mysterious winter cold and managed to order a coffee with my note app. I think that’s all I can achieve today. Pupillage apps be damned

Doing some tidying and found my first year public law work… Why am I a public lawyer now, that was AWFUL…. 🤣

Legal aid is such a tough area to work in but I’ve met so many colleagues that are genuinely good eggs. I am so lucky to have them in my life and call them my friends too 🫶

Moving from most expensive city to rent in to the third most expensive city to rent in is really a big brain move on my end haha

Look, I’m from Hong Kong, where our flats are notoriously small and bad. But I’m here showing my mum pictures of “studios” that are barely a corridor and she’s telling “yeah that’s not legal in Hong Kong” 🤡

London’s rental market is actual hell. I’ve been shown a £1300 per month studio with NO OUTSIDE WINDOWS🤡🤪

I’m looking at all of you, supposedly diversity supporting law firms / chambers. If you can’t afford to pay your employees a living wage you can’t afford the employee! 👀

@JennettEmily I am small (5’2) and round for reference. Uniqlo is great, as are M&S (youth! School uniforms!) and occasionally Zara. My most worn however was from a charity shop which I appreciate is unhelpful!

Lady barristers/solicitors/people who spend a lot of time in court - where are you getting your black dresses from? I have one and prefer wearing it to having to iron a shirt but I can’t find any more appropriate ones for love nor money!

Having one of those weeks where my faith in #LegalAid is tested. To work in a system so utterly broken that the most vulnerable are being failed? To turn away people earning barely enough bc of a punishing threshold? To be struggling w/ £ myself after a 12 hr work day? ☹️
