@Olivier_Thaunat @Transpl_Int @berneyyy OA is a great concept. But 2700 EUR APC is justified? Its not because of the aspects mentioned on the slide. It is to make Frontiers extremely rich…an online only publisher relying on cheap labor and outsourcing. Otherwise why not paying reviewers/editors??

@kumaranvinay However, I am not sure its the fair way to pay a GP the same as a Tx surgeon or anyone working in complex academic level surgery…only because the difference in the job-related health risks…long night hours, pressure are clear risk factors for disease and mortality.

A surgeon in a private hospital is paid about the same as one in a government hospital.They have the best surgeons in the world and the best liver transplant centers in the world. That seems to contradict the worldview that there is no excellence without greed doesn't it?

Korea has a single payer health insurance system run by the government that covers everyone. All the doctors are paid a salary which has nothing to do with how many procedures or operations they do. A family physician is paid as well as a transplant surgeon
