@healWRITEnow @scarletkate @ThanksCancer Same - first onc always seemed like he was trying to get out of the room as quickly as possible, gave the most perfunctory explanations whenever I had questions. Finally had to make a change and wish I'd done it a lot faster.

@scarletkate @ThanksCancer I changed my first oncologist bc I felt like an irritant. She didn’t like questions in between visits & didn’t allow replies to her emails. I felt like crying after I saw her. Not healing. New oncologist & I get on amazingly well. You deserve to feel cared about!

Design Review is what I like to call “white tape.” A little like red tape, but instead, it’s how rich white people hijack the process, put up barriers, and make everyone else poorer.

@angie_rasmussen I feel like with the history of things like long Covid and aftereffects of EBV, HPV, hepatitis-X, shingles, etc, etc, etc, we should be a lot more concerned about any viral infection as a potential driver of long term health problems and be a little more on the ball every time.

To clarify: this should not be interpreted as monkeypox is the same as SARS-CoV-2 or is going to become a pandemic. This *should* be interpreted as we are making some of the same mistakes with regard to responding decisively with the tools at hand.

@HelenGLovesTea @ThanksCancer @caralynneh I'm the same way, I bought a basic textbook on neuroendocrine biology after I got diagnosed, and dug up a cell biology book to understand receptors and so on. Totally to fool my brain into thinking I was "doing something."

Cancer Twitter! I'm working on a project that I'll be posting more about in the coming weeks but for now I'm wanting to gather some info. @ThanksCancer What info did you look for when you were first diagnosed? What do you want to know about current cancer research?

Among the many things this economics reporter fails to note is that this hypothetical double wide road induces only the most marginal trips. These are people who couldn’t be bothered to drive at all when the road was narrow.
Timothy B. Lee@binarybits

Induced demand is a useful concept but I think urbanists lean on it too heavily. If you double the width of a road and it stays equally congested it's not true that you haven't accomplished anything. The road is now helping twice as many people get where they want to go.
