@KirstieMAllsopp Here in Cambridge they want to spend £180m on a 3 lane bus road, through the green belt, for up to 6 single decker buses an hour. Virtually parallel to an existing road than could be upgraded for ~£40m. The 3rd lane is for maintenance. Of the road next to it. Bonkers.

If this doesn’t make you furious, nothing will. Imagine what could have been done with that money. Anyone who has ever driven down the A303 knew that all that was needed was a cut, and they spent ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE MILLION POUNDS of YOUR money doing eff all!

@BenGrahamUK Come and behold the parking fees in Cambridge. Be prepared to sell an organ. You could use the P&R, often the buses are full and it’s no fun fighting your way on the EV P&R buses. If you’re disabled, only a few seats available without huge steps.

NCP has gone into administration. They’ve been running car parks since 1931, and somehow ended up £305m in debt. Surely the maintenance for a car park is simple: ticket machines, barriers, lights, and occasional cleaning. How can a business model literally based on people paying to park go bankrupt?

@BonkersBusway @vickihird Often wondered why councillors take what the officers say with absolute certainty. When the facts clearly dispute the reports, I’d hope they would question and push back.

@vickihird We think part of the problem is poorly conceived schemes badged “net zero”. Here councillors said felling hundreds of trees for a busway would move the county to net zero, the PI showed it’s a net emitter yet it’s still being pushed, undermining trust and souring the term.
