@NonyaBidne94503 @WBSSTL They eat gut piles (along with the shrapnel embedded in the organs), fish that have themselves eaten lead sinkers, as well as carrion from animals that are shot but are not retrieved. Eagles are scavengers as well as hunters- most predators are.

@JohnnieRedux @noyeahobviously This can come from shot animals that hunters don't find (drag themselves to unreachable areas and die there), or from field-dressing an animal and leaving a gut pile behind (along with the shrapnel embedded in the organs). It really does need to come from changing the bullets.
