1/ Some news! When starting Zorro, we knew of two potential "existential" problems that could kill the project: 1. Deepfakes 2. Bribery

@CryptoB00MER e.g. Assume you have a deepfake detector with a 65% true pos rate. 1. Require users to find a group that trusts them and has some money at stake. Anyone in said group can defect by stealing $ 2. Run detector on everyone in group. If % of positives is too high, destroy the group

6/ Note that there are other kinds of sources of sybil resistance! For example, it's expensive to fake being a true contributor to a DAO in the eyes of other contributors. Also see @proofofhumanity and @BrightIDProject for your sybil resistance needs!

5/ If weren't able to stop attackers, or if we became centralized, we'd be letting down any applications that had grown to depend on Zorro. Rather than continuing down that road, we've decided to pause (possibly indefinitely) the Zorro project.

@tripluca Yes, good point! The design goals (including accessibility) are what we aspire to and the first version will fall short of them. Over time we can update the registration rules to make them accessible to more and more people. It'll never be perfect, but we'll go as far as we can.

@greenpotatoX This would be a lot of work to do completely manually, but challengers can use a combination of machine learning and human judgement to do it efficiently.

@greenpotatoX Good question! When someone registers, their registration profile/video becomes part of a public registry. If that person tries to register a second time, a challenger can find out by comparing their face against that of everyone already in the registry.

@tripluca @Kleros_io There’s a local adjudicator on StarkNet which is cheap to operate. The local ajudicator’s decisions can be appealed up to Kleros on L1. In case of an appeal, protocol will put up funds to defend decision made by its local adjudicator.

@ZorroProtocol Deposit at about $30 but potentisl L1 @Kleros_io judge: how will jurors be paid enough? Protocol funds maybe?

@clublandgrace @santisiri @proofofhumanity Exactly! The design was inspired by the crowdfunding/crowdvouching groups. Those groups are brilliant and Zorro is mainly just an extension of their ideas. (They're credited in the whitepaper.)

@santisiri @proofofhumanity the idea of submitting via a notary and have it paid by the protocol, but allowing the user to choose to fund their own and bypass the notary, is an interesting option. It is like formalising the poh crowdvouch/crowdfund groups into the protocol itself.

this is a great step forward — a personhood protocol on starknet can boost the reach of $ubi 💧 a key thing imho is to avoid starting a registry from scratch and make zorro 🦊 compatible with @proofofhumanity profiles. a unified list with multiple protocols on ethereum is 🔑
