Fans have way too much of an attachment to Jared McCain because of 23 great games as a rookie on a terrible team. With Maxey and Edgecombe, McCain was never breaking into the starting lineup. Can't start those three together, so his ceiling was a great future rotational piece. Sixers got back a 2026 first-rounder (which they didn't have) that they can use as an asset for another trade. If not... Daryl Morey has been great drafting in the 20s. McCain be a really good player (yes, we've all seen the Curry shooting/relocation comparisons), but he's also not breaking into that Thunder rotation this season. You have to defend at a high level to play for them... which McCain doesn't do.
