Hey, I’m Zulaihat Abdullahi Mahmoud—a Product Designer and Educator. I grew up across countries such as Japan, Sudan, Mozambique, etc, and that global experience shaped how I think about design. Here’s my journey from healthcare to product design and what I’ve learned👇🏾:

It's actually disheartening seeing talented youth who has all it takes but can't secure a job. My advice is put yourself out there, tell your story because nobody can tell it perfectly more than you. Finally reach out to volunteer for individuals building startup or agency. May the Almighty make it easy for everyone.
Technical Ben@TechnicalBben

I can't take people really seriously on this app 😭 my DM is filled with newbies and intermediate talents asking for help with getting a job. Sometimes I send money to them, I cry sometimes because I don't know how to help, I see talents but can't buy food to eat. 💔💔

Last week, an anonymous feedback link was dropped in our company group chat. Omo… people became activists immediately 😭 They typed with chest. Called out bad management. Exposed favoritism. Dragged useless policies. Names were mentioned. Some people even added examples and timestamps. The confidence was loud because everybody believed it was anonymous. Meanwhile it was the company that designed the link themselves and had one of us post it😩 They could see names, emails and phone numbers of those that used the link… everything. This week, 5 people were laid off. Now the office is quiet.

I saw something in the market today. A Yoruba woman and a Hausa woman sharing a small space, selling their foodstuffs side by side. They were just laughing, joking like old friends. I stood there for a bit just watching them, it was genuinely beautiful. Crazy thing is, some people see division first before they see people.

Some people in your life have never seen you at full capacity. They met you in a hard season, a transitional moment, a version of you still being built. Don’t let their limited experience of you become your ceiling. You are more than the chapter they witnessed.

This is how you can get clients from Twitter as a UI/UX designer (this is a long read, so you can bookmark for later) This post is for people who have been designing for about a year or two. If you’re still a beginner, maybe 6 to 8 months in, this is not for you. At that stage, your focus should be on refining your skills and getting better. But if you’ve spent a year or two in the design space and you’re struggling to get anything out of it, then Twitter is a very reasonable place to get clients. I've been a designer for 5 years and freelance platforms like Contra, Fiverr, and Upwork never worked for me. Making money from Twitter should not be that hard, and this is how you can do it. Step 1 Start interacting with designers: Just be active. Don’t just comment “clean work” and move on, and you don’t need to leave AI generated comments everywhere either. Just be present. Interact with people, talk to people, quote tweets, like, repost. Give your design opinions, ask for opinions. Just let people see you around on their feed. Step 2 Become a better designer: This alone could be a separate post because a lot goes into it. I’m not saying I’m the best designer, but I understand what helped me improve. First, immerse yourself in good design, good designs only. Go on inspiration sites, follow top designers, not just people with large followings but people with solid work. Spend time doing this, it will help you build your visual taste and understand what is good and what is average. Second, go back to the basics. Learn typography, hierarchy, contrast, alignment and colors. For me it came down to immersing myself in good design, understanding the basics, and practicing consistently. If you do this for 3 to 6 months, you will become much better. *continued in the thread*

Since AI made it possible for everyone to write code and build apps The only thing you have been able to build is a "Calorie tracker" and a feature in excel that you did not need to build You haven't built anything different worth it yet. Thing is, If you want to build software rightly with AI your knowledge and taste for software has to be deep too - There are software engineers already building solutions on TAP, ACP & other new protocols. - There are software engineers building system agents because they understand how to use scripts to manage a file system from the get go - There are software engineers building tools for software and ML engineers. If you have never been in software, tell me one thing you can build for software and ML tooling The list goes on and on If you want to build software with AI, increase your knowledge of software and watch your taste and understanding change or else you will be stuck building calorie trackers and every other app a tinder clone Yes the bar is raised for software engineers and being the engineer of 2024 won't cut it for you anymore. But the bar is reachable and still exclusive because they are already software engineers

A mum of three, who’s a law student cries out after her lecturer denied her of entry for being 10 minutes late to class. She revealed that she always have to wake by 5am, take care of the three kids and leave her house which is 1hr 30m to her school. Is it fair for her lecturer to treat her that way?🚶‍♂️

In 2026 Being a fraudster is a choice Being a fraudster shows lack of everything a brain has to offer you If this were the days of our parents where they had limited opportunities maybe I would have reasoned with you But not today! The same Internet and laptop you are using to do fraud that is not sustainable is the same Internet and laptop people have used to build online businesses that made them money to the point of buying houses and investing - Selling shoes - Selling hair - Selling bags - Selling cars - Selling accessories & phones - Selling skincare items - Selling community memberships - Selling food - Selling personality & routine This same Internet, people are starting YouTube channels discussing stories and books and are making 5 - 15k USD a month In fact, the most millionaires & billionaires I have seen in the last 10 years are mostly people making money from YouTube, Online sales, Importation, etc. and they are pouring into real estate Doing fraud in 2026 means you have an empty head. Simple! If you cannot look in and around you and find a skill or product that can fetch you money, and you think fraud is it, you're a clown and you should start a clown show
