@AmitMoscovich @GaelVaroquaux It is very hard to imagine living with this salary in Israel. I live on the very edge of Tel Aviv, and this literally wouldn't cover just rent plus my 2y/o's kindergarten.

@GaelVaroquaux I’m really surprised by this. Tenured professors in Israel earn more than 10,000 EUR/month and often consult 1 day/week, which can almost double their salary.

I make about 3200€ net / month (2760€ after tax) + yearly bonus ~ 6000€ (correcting previous tweet).
I'm a research director (tenured prof equivalent), 13 years after PhD, with (I think) a good track record.

Today French Twitter users seem to be sharing their salary information. As a researcher at Inria, 8 years after PhD, I make about €2300 net / month (+ bonus worth a bit less than an extra month / year). AFAIK this is quite a bit higher than the median French salary.
