The fact that most people think that he didn’t answer the question is beyond me. Seeing a lot of shallow thinking people commenting on that is crazy. When he asked do you BELIEVE, it’s logical that you state your views and understandings about the word you are trying to use to ask or answer the question. Belief is the definition that JP gave. People who believe something don’t need to give a cheap, binary “yes or no” to satisfy a gotcha-style hypothetical. Jordan Peterson didn’t dodge the question, he took it far more seriously than the Parker ever did. He refused to play the superficial game of treating “belief in God” like some casual opinion you can test with a pen-in-hand scenario or a Nazi-at-the-door dilemma. Instead, he drilled down into what belief actually means: not just intellectual assent or a verbal checkbox, but a lived commitment that shows up in your patterns of action, your moral choices, and the way you orient your entire existence. That’s why he defined the term first. It wasn’t evasion, it was precision. He turned a shallow trap question into a real philosophical discussion about what it truly means to believe something as profound as an all-knowing God. Most critics missed that because they want sound-bite simplicity. Peterson gave depth. That’s the difference between shallow thinking and actual intellectual honesty.

@NLH2224 I don’t think this is true. There’s no evidence for 45k dead of course but no doubt some were murdered. Also the holocaust denialism just seems to be the way these guys think it’s cool to be counter cultural, it’s so reactionary and ahistorical.

There are literally people on the “anti-imperialist left” who would agree with this sentiment, and that’s the sad thing.
