I have followers of all sorts: those who use to my writing to decry modernist design and those who love it. Each to their own. But I find the idea that we've reached some kind of architectural end of history and that everything should be pale Georgian pastiche utterly depressing.

Watched #crime101 last night. Very enjoyable, light elements of #crash with its weaving storylines. Barry Keoghan great as an unhinged villain/thief. Let down by every single car headrest being removed so they could film interior shots. Bugbear of mine.

@WarrenWhyteUK @samofsamshire yes, but how it actually looks today is much worse than this one streetview image. Certainly a total lack of pride. Someone always parking a scooter on the grass through winter, it's now a mudbath. Rubbish just dumped and left. and yes, lack of anywhere correct to store bins.

@_5DT_ @samofsamshire To be fair, 10 minutes with a broom would have that looking much better. More an indication of a lack of civic pride in that photo. And not designing properly for wheelie bins as they aren’t going anywhere soon.

Now hire a good architect. Otherwise this will become a future slum.

The R129 SL could be ordered with one of Mercedes’ strangest and most beautiful factory options: the panoramic glass hardtop. Instead of the usual painted roof, buyers could choose a full glass panel that completely changed the character of the car. It turned the SL maybe a bit heavier, but it will feel more open even with the hardtop fitted and this was in 1996. It’s a perfect example of Mercedes engineering indulgence. The R129 was already one of the most solid roadsters ever built, yet the option list still included features that existed purely because someone at Mercedes thought the flagship should have them.

Interested in your views please. For me irrespective of the old ims: rms debate these 3.8L cars and the S Porsche Caymans of the year 2006 had the hot cylinder 6 issue. Run a mile for me the 3.6L a wiser buy. IMHO. carandclassic.com/auctions/2006-…
