M.Ed. A mom who will always be a teacher. Butler U alum/by way of Otterbein {it’s in Ohio} Education/Literacy advocate, mix that w/some politics & The Buckeyes.

Y’all already know what’s up.

My YA novel PRIVATE LABEL has been moved from the teen section to the adult section at @HamiltonEastPL. This hurts as an author, but it hurts even more as a teenager—to literally be erased. PRIVATE LABEL is about an Asian American teenage girl whose mom is going thru cancer. To move this book is to say these experiences don’t matter for teens. Their worry, their anxiety, their emotions, their very identity as young adults is not worthy of space.

To districts with Socio-emotional programs, but also do Balanced Literacy with 3 cueing, leveled libraries, and all the rest... You're the monster you've been trying to slay.

BREAKING: The Indiana Senate just passed SB 12, a book banning bill opening school librarians and teachers up to felony prosecution for having material a parent finds objectionable. SB 12 would have a chilling effect on free speech in schools. The bill now heads to the House.

.@Target raised its minimum wage for all employees to $24/hr & all who work as little as 24hrs/wk gets health insurance. Target will prove: 1. The labor problem isn't people are lazy, it's that they aren't paid enough. 2. More ppl will shop at a store that treats employees right.

Republican Diego Morales has defeated Democrat Destiny Wells and Libertarian Jeffrey Maurer in Indiana's secretary of state race. wishtv.com/news/election/…
