🚨JUST IN: Pep Guardiola reveals what Mikel Arteta did after Arsenal’s Carabao Cup defeat, calls it ‘incredible’ Pep Guardiola got the better of Mikel Arteta as Manchester City beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final. After losing 2-0 to Manchester City, Arsenal had to walk up the Wembley stairs first to collect their Carabao Cup runners-up medals. Once they came down, Pep Guardiola led his side up the stairs to collect their medals and, of course, the Carabao Cup. Manchester City celebrated winning the cup for the fifth time in the last 10 years on the balcony and then came down to do the same on the pitch. Mikel Arteta, his coaching staff, and the Arsenal players could’ve just gone back in as soon as they got their medals, but they stayed until City lifted the cup and came down. The Manchester City boss noticed that, and he hailed and thanked Arteta for the gesture. He told CBS Sports: “It’s against which team we won. This is the strongest one in Europe right now. Look at the Champions League and Premier League. To beat them in many aspects, it looks so difficult. “They have proven it for many years, especially this season. Of course, Carabao Cup, five in 10 years, we’re happy, but especially against them (Arsenal). “I have a huge respect. I want to say thank you because they waited, all the team, until we were down. That was an incredible gesture on the part of Mikel and their people.” Via [@afcnewsroom]

🚨📰 Elliot Anderson admits he’s a huge fan of one Arsenal star and loves watching him play. Speaking on ITV Sport’s YouTube channel, Anderson said: 🗣️🎙️“Just watching Dec all season playing in an England shirt,” the Nottingham Forest star stated. “Yeah, although I’m playing alongside him and we’ve got slightly different roles, I just think I love him as a player and I like to watch him and and take things from his game and he’s been unbelievable this season for Arsenal.” Perhaps a serious offer from Arsenal could persuade Anderson to favour a move to North London over Manchester City. [afcnewsroom] Gooners, would you like Arsenal to make a move for Elliot Anderson? 👀🔴⚪️

🚨 Berta Speaks on Arsenal’s Ruthless New Transfer Strategy. 🗣️Berta "Arsenal and Arteta’s new strategy in this seasons transfer might hurt your feelings, but will absolutely win us trophies. 🔹️ For years, Arsenal held onto players for too long, allowing their market value to decline, losing stars for free, or carrying expensive contracts that no longer offered value. That approach is becoming a thing of the past. 🔹️ The biggest clubs in world football have mastered the art of selling at the right time. Real Madrid moved on from Casemiro and Raphaël Varane when their value was at its peak. Manchester City did the same with Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, and Julián Álvarez. Liverpool have also shown a willingness to make tough decisions when the timing is right. 🔹️ This signals a major change in mentality. Rather than clinging to every key player, Arsenal are beginning to operate like an elite club that trusts its recruitment network and believes replacements can be found before decline sets in. 🔹️ Being open to significant offers for players at the height of their value helps prevent stagnation, refreshes the squad, and creates room for the next generation of stars. It may seem ruthless, but it is often the price of building a team capable of competing at the highest level year after year. Arsenal's ambition is clear: think long-term, act decisively, and operate like Europe's elite. 🤔 If a huge offer arrived this summer, which Arsenal player would you be willing to cash in on while their value is at its highest? #AFC #Arsenal #COYG

🚨🇦🇷 Lionel Messi was asked which country he dreams of facing in his final FIFA World Cup after scoring a stunning brace in Argentina’s 2-0 victory over Austria: 🎙️ Reporter: “Leo, after your brilliant performance today, if you could choose one country to face before the end of your World Cup journey, who would it be?” 🗣️ Messi: “Portugal. Without a doubt, Portugal. Not because it would be easy, actually the opposite. They have a fantastic team, world-class players, and they are always competitive. But for me, it would be special for another reason. I have shared this era with Cristiano Ronaldo for almost two decades. We have pushed each other, competed against each other, and experienced so many incredible moments in football. Yet somehow, we have never faced each other on the biggest stage of all — the World Cup. I think football fans around the world would love to see it, and honestly, I would too. Not because of the rivalry people always talk about, but because of the respect that exists between us after so many years. When you spend your entire career being compared to one player, you understand the greatness of that player better than most people. Cristiano has had an extraordinary career, and sharing the pitch with him at a World Cup would be something very special. If this is my last World Cup, then facing Portugal and Cristiano would be a beautiful way to close a chapter. Two players who defined an era, meeting on the biggest football stage in the world. That is something every football lover would remember forever.” 🎙️ Reporter: “So Portugal is your dream opponent?” 🗣️ Messi: “Yes. Portugal. Because some moments are bigger than football, and that would be one of them.” {@beinsport}

Tim Vickery on saying this was supposed to be the Haaland and Mbappé World Cup era… but at 39, Lionel Messi is still stealing the spotlight: 🗣️ “Everyone came into this tournament talking about a new era. Erling Haaland. Kylian Mbappé. The next kings of football. The World Cup was supposed to crown them and finally close the chapter on the previous generation, with a clean handover that the football world has been waiting for.” “Haaland brings raw power, Mbappé brings explosive pace and confidence the kind of profiles that usually define a new decade of football dominance. Everything in the build-up suggested this would be their stage, their moment, and their tournament to fully take over the global conversation.” “But somehow… the story refuses to move on. At 39, Lionel Messi is still right there, bending the narrative, bending expectations, and bending time itself with performances that feel like they shouldn’t still be possible at this stage of a career.” “It’s not just that he is still playing well it’s that he is still deciding matches, still influencing entire knockout games, still producing moments where the stadium collectively pauses because something special is about to happen. That is what makes it surreal and almost unbelievable.” “We were told this would be the transition. The passing of the torch from one generation to the next, the final step into a new football era. Instead, the torch is still in the same hands… and somehow it is burning just as brightly as it did in his peak years.” “The most astonishing part is not that he is competing with them… it’s that he is still outshining them on the very stage that was meant to replace him, turning what was supposed to be a changing of the guard into a reminder of his enduring greatness.” “And maybe that’s the real story of this World Cup not the beginning of a new era like everyone predicted, but the refusal of the old one to end quietly, with Messi still standing at the center of football history as if time never caught him.”

🚨📰 Forget Sandro Tonali, Arsenal have reportedly made a move to hijack another £42m deal that Tottenham were pursuing. According to RTI Esporte, Arsenal have made a surprise enquiry about signing Manchester City winger Savinho on loan. However, Arsenal’s approach for the 22-year-old was swiftly rejected by Manchester City, who are only willing to consider a permanent transfer. It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal return with a permanent bid for the Brazilian after their initial loan approach was rejected. [afcnewsroom] Gooners, would you like Arsenal to submit a permanent bid for Savinho?
