@abigailkret pls also drop a pin on the fountain on the side of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence where you can choose between still and sparkling, & the one by Palazzo Pitti where the free drinking water flows out of the mouth of a metal lion right into your refillable bottle

Stalinism as an austerity regime driven by the need for the Soviet Union to remain credit worthy in international trade and currency - I don't think it's necessarily wrong, but I also don't think it's fully right either lol

@revjorobertson my "favourite" part is at the end when he admits she has more relevant professional knowledge than him and yet somehow he still thinks she is the dummy for not playing along with his game

#twitterstorians and friends, I have a special niche question: can you recommend any experts in Russian railway history, circa 1924-1930?

Academics, can you share a rejection story (e.g., journal, award) and/or how you move forward? I am presenting on "Recovering from Rejections." I have plenty of my stories, but I'd love more ex's to show students that rejection happens to ALL & throughout careers! @OpenAcademics

Can someone please recommend resources so I can learn more about the Ukrainian renaissance - writers and artists opressed and murdered by the Soviets in the 1930s? Books, articles, podcasts? Thank you!

Unlimited PTO is the way to go. Some folks think people will abuse it, but my last employer had unlimited PTO and that was not the case. Not only did people not abuse it, but folks were careful of still being perceived as not working hard enough.

@stephenburgen I don't think you can explain that whole population loss with out migration. Something else happened to Jews in Soviet territory inc Ukraine between 1926 and now that had quite an effect.

@stephenburgen "Russia’s Jews have been emigrating in their tens of thousands during the past 100 years, [...] [in the] 1926 census there were 2,672,000 Jews in the then Soviet Union, 59% of them in Ukraine. Today only about 165,000 Jews remain in the Russian Federation"
