As I’ve said from the start — I will never stop advocating for Aurora until we get a real, practical solution for our residents. I’m proud of the N6 Mayors for standing together and making sure the voices of our communities were heard loud and clear. That also means we are one week away from two great events for next Friday's PA Day! 🥅 Free Community Skate – Friday, October 24 (PA DAY) Come join me at the Sports Complex, as I am personally hosting a FREE Community Skate from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This morning and this afternoon I had the privilege of Chairing Committee of the Whole and Council in my role of Acting Mayor. I was sporting my Jays jersey in support of the big game tonight and we had very productive meetings. 🐦✅ The motion presented by Councillor Lahey and I regarding e-scooters was passed with amendments through feedback brought forward by all Councillors. The result was a collaborative effort to have staff work with York Regional Police on determining policies where suggested to staff - and to bring back to Council - as well as the opportunity for education surrounding existing rules. 🛴 Further, we passed a motion to have East Gwillimbury along with the other five northern municipalities explore smaller blue bin sizing to be available for residents under the new program. While we can't change the current plan that is in motion, hopefully the future will prove to yield improved and varied sizing. We also positively reinforced this, by ensuring the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks be included in this direction. 🚮 Enjoy the game tonight everyone! Go Jays Go! ⚾

A huge thank-you to residents from Holland Landing, River Drive Park, Sharon, Queensville, Holt, and Mount Albert for joining. It was incredible to see so many neighbours come together, share ideas, and connect over a cup of coffee. Community is built through engagement on issues that matter most, and the discussion was lively, thought provoking, and wholly appreciated. Highway 48 is getting a new stretch of sidewalk! Construction will begin the week of May 19 to extend the sidewalk along Highway 48 from Princess Street to the south-west corner of the Foodland property. This pedestrian sidewalk is expected to be ready in August and all businesses along this strip will remain open during construction. We are excited to further improve accessibility in EG with this project!
