Congrats to these athletes on an incredible season and an amazing performance at the state meet! We are proud of you all!
Annabelle competed in the 100m dash (at the state level as a 6th grader — a huge accomplishment!) She’ll be back chasing medals next year!

@Burnku@TweetsbyCoachP As a coach, I have seen numerous girls quit because of this exact reason. When you have girls missing time because of avoidable concussions, there is an issue. The younger levels need to see the refs clean up the game. Certainly burn out and club volleyball don't help either.
@TweetsbyCoachP As the father of a former basketball player, the game is being coached way too physical. Girls got hurt in practice & beat up during games because you have coaches that think that physical contact is part of the game. They are quitting to go play volleyball in droves
Why do you believe we are seeing such a steep decline in girls high school basketball participation? Non-refutable data from the NFHS says that participation has dropped 21% over the last 25 years.
But why? What is your take on the why when the highest levels of the sport have never been more popular.
@JohnRHarrell Participation as others have mentioned is certainly a big problem. The lack of foul calling at the Middle School level plays a big role in my opinion. I have seen so many girls quit because they are getting beat up (concussions) in Middle School and nothing is ever called.
The division between the haves and the have-nots (or the cares and the care-nots) in girls' basketball is getting worse. It's only been two days of games (about 30% of the tournament), but the average margin is 24.1, 4 points greater than it's ever been. That will come down to a more sensible number. However, we've already had 8 teams scoring in single digits. That's an all-time record.

@MiaFleetwood3 nails a clutch 3 pointer with 1:27 left in the game down 3 to tie the game at 30 against the Linton Miners. Clark Middle School emerges victorious with a 32-30 win. #AGTG@IBCWBB@M14hoopsindy@IBC14UJr3SSB
