@colinwalker79 @PaulSchleifer @Telegraph Exactly like all the headlines, beloved of the Daily Mail, which contain the modal verbs May or Might. Which can be replaced with May Not, or Might Not for all the validly of what they’re highlighting.

Crafty bit of EV misinfo from the @Telegraph here Headline 'asks' 'do EVs cause potholes?' Expert basically says 'no, not really' This is a classic example of 'Betteridge's Law' - which states that any headline ending in a question mark can be answered with "no" 1/6

Now Italy follows Spain in denying US landing rights, while Poland refuses US request to transfer Patriot missiles and cracks emerge in US/UK intelligence sharing. The transatlantic alliance is breaking down in front of us

1/ The US attempted to send several Iran-bound bombers to an Italian air base without prior authorisation and was refused permission by the Italian government while the aircraft were in flight. The news comes a day after Spain disclosed it was refusing US military overflights. ⬇️

WOW. Having worked in this field, I cannot overstate how remarkable this is. Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive, deadly brain cancers we know. THIS is why we fund science.
Massimo@Rainmaker1973

A single dose of a new cancer drug made a brain tumor almost disappear – in just five days. Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital reported “dramatic and rapid” tumor regression in the first patients treated with a next-generation form of CAR T-cell therapy for glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive brain cancers known. The therapy, called CARv3-TEAM-E, was developed to overcome a major hurdle in treating solid tumors: their ability to hide from the immune system. The personalized treatment reprograms a patient’s immune cells to attack the tumor, and in one extraordinary case, nearly eliminated the cancer within just five days. This novel therapy is designed to target multiple features of the tumor at once, a strategy that may help overcome the common challenge of treatment resistance in solid tumors like glioblastoma. Although the tumors eventually returned, the early outcomes were described as unprecedented. One patient saw a 60% reduction in tumor size that lasted for half a year—an impressive result in a cancer known for its aggressiveness. The trial’s success marks a major step forward for immunotherapy in brain cancer and raises new hopes for long-term control or even a cure. Researchers are now working to refine the treatment and extend its effects, with the ultimate goal of turning a once-terminal diagnosis into a survivable condition.

The more you read about the terrible miscalculation of bombing Iran, the more you understand the unintended consequences. Fertilizer plants being forced to shut down, leads to lower yields, higher food prices, and will quite literally kill people due to hunger. It’s only the world’s poorest people though so no need to worry about this.

In order to attempt to build its own 'sovereign' global satellite positioning system, once again the UK is spending ££bns but it's still 'a fair distance away'. Brexit was a 'low point' for our science. Let's rejoin Galileo at once, save money and reverse Boris's monkeying around with our national security.
Anthony Glees @anthonyglees@AnthonyGlees

@jimalkhalili is one of the most important guys on the BBC and today's 'Life Scientific' on GPS better GNSS systems is yet another example of why. Inter alia we learned about the Brexit hit we took when we had to leave Gallileo, the EU's satellite positioning system in which we'd invested £bns. Pl listen bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

@_Tumbawumba @sentdefender It’s ironic really. POTUS is baiting the media once again. If the US topples the Iranian regime, Trump becomes one of the “Greatest POTUS of all time”! If the US military leaves whilst in a deadlock and regime change does not happen, then it’s a failure and the Republicans lose the mid-terms. It’s all or nothing! Trump is putting all of his pieces in the middle of the table! My money's on Trump and the US military to topple the Iranian Regime.

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing officials with knowledge on the matter, U.S. President Donald J. Trump has told aides that he is willing to conclude operations against Iran even if it means leaving the Strait of Hormuz in a deadlock. Per the report, the administration assesses that operations to forcibly reopen the strait will likely extend the conflict past the previously established 4-5 weeks and that reaching the goals of severely degrading Iranian conventional military capabilities may be the the route to go. Additionally, according to the report, other military options on the table, including ground operations, are not President Trump’s priorities right now.

@JonErlichman That article was from December 2000. Almost two years earlier on 12 March 1999, David Bowie told Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight about the future of the internet - which was very much in its infancy - was going to affect society beyond all recognition. x.com/rocknrollofall…

Thomas Massie is sounding the alarm. Congress is on the brink of passing a liability shield for pesticide companies, like Bayer, who give Americans cancer. Bayer is a foreign company, but Congress wants to give them total immunity to mass poison Americans with glyphosate. “This is not to grant farmers’ immunity.” “This is to grant the corporations immunity.” “If farmers contract a form of cancer or non-Hodgson’s lymphoma from this chemical, if this makes it into the Farm Bill, you won’t be able to sue for that.” This liability shield would be a complete betrayal of the MAHA movement. But House Republicans are on the brink of passing it anyway, and President Trump is urging them to do it. There is still time to fight back. We need all hands on deck to stop this. Here’s how you can take action: Use the link below for a step-by-step guide to urge Congress to remove Sections 10205, 10206, 10207 and portions of 10201 from the Farm Bill in order to preserve Americans’ right to sue pesticide companies when their products poison us:🧵 @RepThomasMassie

Jeffrey Epstein’s computers didn’t disappear after his death. They disappeared before he was ever charged. 11 days before Palm Beach PD raided his mansion in 2005, a PI named Paul Lavery — acting on attorney Roy Black’s orders — removed 3 computers, 29 phone directories, nude photos, VHS tapes, sex toys and $2,000 cash. When detectives arrived, the computers were “conspicuously absent.” One was hardwired to Epstein’s home surveillance system. When detectives arrived, all three were gone. In 2007, a forensics expert asked a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy to borrow the department’s hard drive duplicator — said Roy Black hired him to make 3 copies of each drive. The deputy declined and reported it to the FBI. Nothing happened. A federal grand jury subpoena for the computers was killed by the 2007 plea deal. Storage fees were paid until just before Epstein’s death in 2019. Fourteen years of rent on drives prosecutors never touched. Earlier this month, Epstein’s attorney Darren Indyke confirmed under oath to House Oversight the drives were never turned over to law enforcement. His personal assistant told the FBI items were also removed from his island. Roy Black, who ordered the 2005 clean-out, died in 2025. The Palm Beach drives are missing. The island drives are missing. The man who gave the order is gone. The coverup continues… miamiherald.com/news/politics-… Read Julie K. Brown’s Substack: open.substack.com/pub/jkbjournal…
