We’ve added an update to our contest announcement. In the last ~24h, we've learned quite a bit about the legalities of contests. We deeply regret the need to cancel. The structure, had we opened submissions, possibly would have created sweepstakes + compliance issues globally. We’re really sorry to those who started prepping. We appreciate the effort and thought you put in. 🙏

DeepView's reflection—that perhaps adapting to AI means learning to choose to work less—comports with my understanding of biological scaling laws (ants in big colonies do actually work less or it clogs up the transport networks, etc.) so the question might be one of how long it takes for work culture to adapt, or whether we can decouple the rat race dynamics of institutions from human life. I don't think Jevons' Paradox necessarily applies at the level of individual humans: yeah, probably the economy will always work more if it can, but just because we collectively burn more wood than we did before the invention of gas stoves doesn't mean each of us will. At any rate, a note of care and caution to my vibe coding friends out there. Giving more attention to scope of work and why you are building has never been more important than when you feel like you can accomplish anything. archive.thedeepview.com/p/ai-leads-peo…

So... I tried Matrix/Element, because these changes are introduced due to law changes UK made, and every discord alternative will sooner or later have to implement this aswell otherwise they will be illegal in UK, therefore losing users. Matrix/Element doesn't have that problem. It has a few disadvantages (mostly that Element is not as intuitive as discord), but it supports custom emojis, roles, text, voice, video as well as screen sharing on calls, so I think it's the most important for casual discord users. More detailed nerd info will be in replies, but for casual users what you need to know is: - it's safe to use (encrypted) - can't be forced to implement ID features - you can have FULL CONTROL, yes FULL, no one forcing updates, compliance, guidelines, nothing, but you have to get a little nerdy to have full control - can have your own Space (simmiliar to discord servers) - you have DMs FAQ: What it is? Matrix is server, Element is app (but there are other apps, like Cinny), both are free to use and open source, that means anyone can look at code and check for themselves, that makes it safer to use. Is it easy to use? Yes, if you want to quickly switch from discord it's as easy as downloading app of your choosing and making an account, apps walk you through it so no need to worry Is it like discord? Kind of, there's an app that looks similar to discord, called Cinny, but for now they haven't implemented voice or video calls, so it's just text, but I think it will change in a while, given what discord is doing. I would recommend to start using Matrix via Cinny to setup everything and use Element if you want to make voice/video calls, because Element is not that intuitive and easy to use as Cinny Will they cave to UK laws? Short answer is no. Long answer will be in replies for nerds, but it's still no I will try to make easy step-by-step guide how it works, why it works and how to use it and also how to host your own server, but it will require some time, which I hardly have, but it will be available in the link on my profile or in replies. Before I create a guide this link will redirect you to Element website

Discord will age-restrict accounts by default unless users verify their age via face scan or ID

@Lampe2020_8 @FearMyLocus No, because no existing spec is federated except matrix (which sucks for this) and thus it would offer no interop anyways

I mean if we can gather a group of developers to actually make a good discord alternative, I can jump in and also give some code and help fund hosting. Chat for the 21st century. If you are interested, drop me a dm or reply to this tweet :) I'm no stranger to new projects :P

@vaxryy I'd love to see someone like Valve jump in. It would guarantee Linux 1st-party support. To me, Matrix is the perfect example of how that system doesn't work due to fragmentation and as you mentioned questionable management. Fingers crossed for a new entry in the space.

why don't we build platforms where user<>platform interests align?

@borkedsys Imagine a business model with a profit-sharing strategy which ensures each user who pays profit (or rent) slowly gains the ownership in the (to be built) supply-chains required to host that kind of production in the future. These user-owners hold that land to never pay rent.

@borkedsys Rent measures property misallocation. When users are owners, rent is 0. ... Copyleft, enforced by Copyright, requires each user gain (intellectual) property. Could we create a "Propertyleft", enforced by Property Rights, to require each user gain real land ownership?

Capitalism isn’t a system of abundance, it’s a system of controlled access. The business model is simple, take what was shared, enclose it, and charge rent. Once you see it, you start noticing the fences everywhere.

@Abundance_DAO Yes, the incentive charge high prices remains. But when the IP (recipe for how it is made) is "locked open" with a license such as the GNU GPL, those Users are guaranteed access to that information, so can always "go around" the current owners to make the medicine themselves.

@_ECVM_ wouldn't these users always have an economic incentive to charge others more though? how is this materially different from Pfizer's shareholders owning medical IP/patents?

@Abundance_DAO The second layer is the immaterial information, or in other words the completed Medical Research. By claiming Copyright over that information, they can "lock open" that research with a license such as the GNU GPL to ensure all users are protected from excessive prices.

@Abundance_DAO There are two layers to this question. The material layer, such as the land and buildings and medical equipment required for research could be owned by the consumers so they own that completed research without purchase and access that information at the real cost of production.

I believe we can have various digital SoVs just like physical ones. Gold is supreme but we also have silver, platinum, diamonds- valued based on scarcity, demand and unique utility. When utility is kind of converging in the digital realm, what will be the differentiator? I think it will be - how much benefit does the SoV bring to broader society through it's process of creation. The must have properties of SoV are fixed cap supply, economic cost to create it (like PoW), fair launch and fair distribution over a reasonable timeframe. Any crypto project can meet these if they choose to. You can sprinkle some zk magic and make them private. Technically all tokens can be made private now because the tech is there. So it's about what kind of value do we store. If $BTC is storing sovereignty, $ZEC is storing privacy, $TAO is storing intelligence, what else does society need to store as value for a healthy future? The regens know the answer. It's the air we breathe, water we drink, health of the natural world, peace of mind, time with loved ones, you get the drift... It's time to act. The regenaissance is here and $AK69 is our weapon. Let's create a multi-capital SoV with @AntiKrisis_xyz

The difference: silver and gold serve different real world purposes. Zcash is better than bitcoin, within the same purpose. “If a better coin can come and replace what everyone believed to be the best coin, what’s to say this won’t be replaced by a better coin” It goes from being a store of value to a tradeable risk-on asset.
