@Critical_Scribe I've been listening to the dialogue again, I find it a tad frustrating with how it's structured. It is long enough between combat segments, but not long enough for the characters to talk things out. Right before the boss, they get a little argumentative, and it cuts off.

She went on and on about how he didn’t understand her pain and though he had clear examples of being in far worse situations, just sat there and took it without a word or pushback when she was being unreasonable. Let’s also not forget he killed her son because he was choking her to death, because he saw a cycle he was in repeating himself. I’m not saying powerscale trauma, but it gets to a point where you can’t just enable someone’s behavior because they’re sad.

In light of current discourse, there is definitely a difference to the feel of 2018’s writing compared to Ragnarok and in STARK contrast to Laufey. There was just a weight there to 2018 that was ever present and really let you feel what Kratos was going through. Ragnarok was a good game, but something about it lacked the sort of sauce that 2018 had. There was your serious dialogue, but it relied too much on making characters just not responding to keep going. Freya was a large example, because she was allowed to just say anything with little to no push back and whenever a character was “in grief” it was like some sort of superpower where no one could tell them they were being ridiculous. 2018 had balance to it all, which Ragnarok didn’t, and now Laufey has dropped even further with its deliver and presentation. This isn’t because Laufey is about Faye, it’s because what she’s working with feels worse. And yes I can make that judgement based on what was shown to me. They chose to show it to me, I can judge it.

“Do not mistake my silence for lack of grief.” Is such a hard line. Everything kratos says has so much purpose behind it. Judge, you are the man

@Critical_Scribe I don't believe there was any pushback to be given. That conversation specifically where Kratos mentions that "he knows," that surprises Freya, she pushes on the topic, Kratos kinda dodges, then she says that she shouldn't have asked. They kinda come to an understanding.

@Critical_Scribe I can't really think of any other irrational/emotional moments. Maybe, Angrboda's grandmother? That section of the story certainly wasn't the greatest.

@Critical_Scribe What pushback was Kratos supposed to give? He killed her son. When she told him to "shut up and kill," he gave her pushback. He was going to help her regardless of what she had to say. Then I think I remember Brok jabbing her with a comment or 2 about her brother.

@samwise_master Freya and Freyr I'm 50/50 on, but I think that's because Ragnarok was put all into 1 game, instead of it being 2 games to complete a trilogy.

@samwise_master Odin is the villain you like to hate. I like that on replay, you notice every little jab and comment he makes when trying to manipulate the situation. I dont like Sif, I think she could have used more screen time to flesh out her character a bit more.

I'm curious about this, for no particular reason. Do you like God of War: Ragnarok?

@BurkeBlack They made the Jotunheim Giants more human like, none of them were really Ice giants except for the dead one in 2018. She was a giant who opposed Odin and her people's tradition of following prophecy. She battle Thor, and eventually Kratos.

@squarednation_ It could be just as simple as a bunch of friends theory crafting and coming up with ideas on where to take GoW.

I kinda want an interviewer to ask Cory why these directors fit right to him. Why Eric Williams? Why Ariel Lawrence? It seems like a very well throughout decision each time

@metricmoves @ALegendaryDrops It's kinda what I'm thinking. Begtse said the gateways to the god's afterlife were closed, which already sets the expectation that they can be opened. Then with Sekhmet being an antagonist and having conflict with Fey if Fey kills Begtse, all signs point to Egypt.

@_FacelessEnt20 @ALegendaryDrops To tie in how Kratos gets his new game with a new journey. Y'all want Kratos in Egypt. This is how we there. If he knows Faye could still be alive but we've gotta go through Egyptian mythology to do it then hey 🤷‍♂️ he needs a reason to switch realms

@LUPASAN2 This makes no sense. So in nearly an instant, Kratos dies, wakes up next to Fey, helps her up and says NOTHING to her?

@ALegendaryDrops I honestly believe shifting to title to something like "Laufey: A God of War Tale" would help with expectations.

@Soycrates It's just the fact that it's a bouncy cube, Jack Quaid I think makes a great sidekick in something like GoW, but it's a cube that bounces at enemies. It's so jarring.

Bit torn on God of War: Laufey. Do I think it might be fun and interesting? For sure. But it's more than worrying to have comedic relief sidekick be so present and forthcoming in this new GoW series. I don't think the tone and timing can be compared to, say, Mimir.

@Azranium Asserting that Sony wants Santa Monica to "play it safe" when it's a game without Kratos as the playable character, I really wouldn't call that safe.
