@MarieForRI @MikeWChip Any idea on why the state is failing to meet its initial housing production targets?

@MikeWChip @_HarrisonTuttle True. We won't have common solutions.

THIS is not the first time I have agreed with @_HarrisonTuttle.
One thing I have said repeatedly is that RI has never ever, never once, formulated long range growth, development, and economic expansion plans. Our state is always lurching from one crisis to the next, never doing the harder work of prevention and planning for the overall health and well-being of our citizens. I know that is a negative and harsh judgment, but it’s the truth.
Until we elect officials who are willing to create sustainability plans over 20 or 30 years with GOALS and Planning that encompass assessment and accountability measures for actual progress, we will not sustain, we will continue to decline.
It’s a running joke that our beautiful Ocean State ranks last in every race-- it’s not funny. We have never had a captain or crew bent on progress; We’ve only had leadership who steered for a term, careful to avoid crashing on the rocks. We hand that mess to the next captain and crew… somehow never picking those who have the vision to chart a course for the future.
As Mr. Tuttle points out, this work should’ve been done long ago.
At this point, we don’t even have lifeboats.
Republicans are quick to point the finger at 60 years of the same Democrat leadership. Progressives would point to the same common thread. I don’t think it’s that partisan. I think it’s a matter of electing the right PEOPLE, not necessarily the right party. We’re all on the same damn boat, could we start rowing together?!
I said it.
