In January 1968, five-month-old Kimberley Jackson was taken from her pram outside her home in Norton, England. Her mother, Sandra Djan, had left Kimberley in the pram by the back door while she prepared her bath and bottle. A few minutes later, Kimberley was gone. Sandra had actually seen a teenage boy pushing a pram that looked like hers near the flats, but at the time, she didn’t realize it was Kimberley’s pram. The baby’s rattles were later found dumped in an alley, possibly so the pram would not make noise. About an hour and a half later, Kimberley was found face down in a pool of water at Billingham Bottoms. She had been drowned. Police launched a murder investigation and searched across the country, but the killer was never caught. The suspect was described as a boy around 12 to 14 years old, about 4'6" to 5'0", with dark hair and a full face. He was wearing a dark green hooded anorak. Several neighbours saw the boy near the flats. Some saw him pushing the pram toward the area where Kimberley was later found. One witness had even spoken to him. He claimed he was looking for number 36. In 2004, Kimberley’s mother asked police to reopen the case, hoping new forensic technology or guilt from the killer might finally bring answers. She said she never got over the fact that she saw the boy taking her baby away and didn’t realize it. The case remains unsolved. If the boy is still alive today, he would now be around 70 to 72 years old.
