Young men grow up in libraries believing it their duty to accept views which Cicero/Locke/Bacon have given, forgetful that they too were young men in libraries

With the help of my good buddy @FHuzjan, I launched my second annual two-part mini series of the best and worst contracts in the NBA this season. Be sure to check these two articles out. Some of the names will definitely surprise you! forbes.com/sites/matissa/…

Homeowner waits until construction job is nearly done—then calls ICE on 6 of her own workers. Woman even provides the ladder used by agent to detain men—who she owes $10,000 for 3 day job. "She called the damn law on us and now we're totally screwed!" men yell in Spanish. "They surrounded us!—They surrounded us!" Agents even left behind the workers' van with doors wide open—filled with thousands of dollars worth of tools. The arrest was broadcast live for about 30 minutes by a co-worker—identified as Bryan Polanco. "Seeing it is not the same as experiencing it," he explains. "I’ve seen many videos, and sadly today I had to experience it." At the end of the video he gets the woman who called ICE on camera: "It is the same woman. Tidying up the house, and still with hatred in her heart." The incident occurred in Cambridge, Maryland.

@DavidNdii Prof this assuming that we don’t have engineers who are not only better suited for this role, but also have the social skills to rally Nairobians to understand the importance of the hard decisions they need to make to make the city better.

When Ruto appointed Bishop Wanjiru to lead the Nairobi Rivers Commission, it was a clear sign of where the government’s priorities lie. We're looking at a KSh 50 billion project that requires serious engineering and hydrological expertise to save this city. Yet, the leadership was handed to a politician and preacher. Yes, she was an Assistant Minister for Housing once, (yeah, she was 😉) and clearly knows how to lead a crowd. But leading a church or a political rally isn't the same as re-engineering a river basin!! While the Ministry of Defence and Housing handle the heavy lifting, the leadership at the top matters. If we keep filling technical roles with political figures, we shouldn't be surprised when the solutions don't match the scale of the disaster. Nairobi is literally drowning, we need expertise, not just optics. What are her qualifications again????

A gutted Nathan MacKinnon: "You be the judge of who was the better team today."

Some African men are still asking me how to join the Russian military despite all the Ukraine horror stories of a deadly war with drones, missiles, and land mines. Is this desperation, or delusion?
