Nazis lasted twelve years, the Islamic industrialized murder, rape and slavery lasted 1400 years! Why haven’t you heard about it? With further reaffirmation that includes Mohamed being only prophet to not receive revelation directly from God and no witnesses to his revelations. (We know why) It is, based on your sources, very plausible that statement could very well be true.

So if no one can rule out theological influence, then it’s entirely plausible that this hadith was downgraded because it conflicted with the later established Islamic doctrine and the protecting Mohamed’s infallibility. Respectfully .. I understand al-Qutubi included reports of varying authenticity. That’s not what I’m asking! Ok. Read that again. You are talking about al-Qrtubi and I’m asking about the process of evaluating the Hadith. My question is much simpler: For the 5th time… can you demonstrate that the later rejection of the verse was based only on isnad criticism and not, even in part, because it conflicted with the doctrine or mohameds infallibility as a prophet?

I’m asking about the historical tradition/haduth ..not his job title. Understand? So I will ask a third time, can you demonstrate that later scholars rejected all of those widespread reports solely on isnad criticism and not, even in part, because they conflicted with established theology and protecting prophets infallibility?

ICMA of The Miracle of Water Flowing from the Prophet’s ﷺ Fingers hadith: Intro * The non-generic reports appear to preserve three distinct miracle-event clusters: * the ~70-80 people in Madinah event cluster which we can reconstruct back to the companion Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) as the Common Link (CL) * the specific al-Zawra’ ~300 people event cluster (CL is a tabi) * the al-Hudaybiyah ~1500 people event cluster (CL is a tabi) * All have reliable chains * Traditional scholars state there were multiple similar events * All three main events share the same stable miracle-core tradition: * hand placed into water, * water flowing from between the fingers, * people performing ablution. * Each cluster also preserves its own distinct: * location, * crowd size, * narrative setting, * descriptive wording, * added/absent details. * Internally each cluster contains natural internal wording variation while still preserving a stable location, crowd size, narrative atmosphere, and miracle-core structure. * Importantly, distinctive/nuanced wording rarely crosses between the clusters. * This overall pattern leans more toward related but distinct miracle occasions rather than one heavily corrupted copied/fabricated event. * One of the events can be reconstructed back to a companion, whilst the other two back to a tabi * Reconstructing the hadith of one event back to the companion Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) as the CL weakens arguments of any later fabrication for that event related hadith

That is incorrect. Again weak (Da if) ≠ fabricated. And by your own methodology, can you demonstrate that this Hadith was graded weak solely because of problems with its chain and NOT because it contradicted later theological commitment or compromised prophetic infallibility? You can’t.

@_Isabel_C @modban Do you understand what cumulative or you are just using words here. Weak Hadith means it’s not authentic and can’t be traced back to the author. Even though it is more authentic than the whole gospel that you have no narration for it.

Weak ≠ Fake This isn’t just one random weak story that popped up centuries later. It is widespread and shows up in a bunch of the earliest Islamic sources. It creates a huge theological problem so of course scholars would’ve suppressed it!!! But the cumulative evidence IS there and it deserves the serious historical consideration it actually deserves!

Qran Verse 22:52 We have your book admitting that Satan interfered in Gods revelation. Translations of this verse has been modified to protect the prophets infallibility and so people wouldn’t realize Mohamed couldn’t be a prophet if this happened. You need to read the original Arabic source.

Very interesting! A white devil came to Muhammad in the form of Gabriel to tempt him?!? Before the Mohammadans start yelling “weak narration” 🙌I’m just going to say that that is missing the point. A missing isnad doesn’t prove a tradition never existed. It just means it can’t be authenticated with absolute certainty. What we do know is that the Bible warned us …2 Corinthians 11:14: “For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” Then centuries later, we find early Islamic tradition preserving reports of a devil appearing in the form of Gabriel. Make of that what you will!
