I’m proof that Burton Malkiel’s 'monkey investing' is a valid investment strategy 🐒

I added more $NBIS than anything else last week. Nice to see it hit ATH’s. I think it’s still a 2-3x in a years time.

Built most of my starter position in $KRKNF today. This name is absolutely slept on. I keep hearing it has “underperformed the market.” Maybe the stock has. But if the stock price is underperforming while the business is performing, guess what - the stock price can get fucked. Underwater autonomy, sonar, naval robotics and maritime awareness are core defense infrastructure. When the Covelya deal closes, I’ll reassess adding again.

I’ve just found out someone started investing in $ASTS when it was at $3, and the stock is now at $83. That means they’re up more than 2,000% on their initial investment in just two to three years. That is absolutely incredible. Especially when you consider that a lot of ASTS investors are almost all in.

I initially started my position adding under $70, I trimmed at $123 before it reached it’s peak ~$133 and now I’ve been adding again under $90. I won’t time the exact bottom or top but as long as I’m close enough. $ASTS

Good chance I add some more $ASTS under $90. Tomorrow's launch is a massive deal for the upside. If everything goes smoothly, it wipes out a ton of the recent uncertainty from that failed launch in April. It’s the first time they’re deploying a batch of three Block 2 satellites, which is the real test of their stackable architecture. If they pull this off, it confirms they’ve cleared those earlier production hurdles. It basically proves they can actually scale up and get these next gen satellites into orbit. They already have the FCC approval in the bag, so a successful deployment means they are finally ready to flip the switch on commercial service. If they nail this and show the market that the hardware and deployment issues are fully sorted out, the narrative shifts completely I think it opens the door for the stock to go back to ATH’s.

@GMFinX Haha it’s just a famous claim that a blindfolded monkey throwing darts at the stock page would pick as well as the experts. People actually tested it with a chimp named Raven and she hit over 200% returns 😂

This is what I mean by UK investors being so far behind. Let me address some of these points: SPIVA tracks institutional funds, not retail investors. Warren Buffett has talked about how professional underperformance is structural it’s the result of index hugging to avoid career risk, quarterly redemption pressure, and massive AUM that makes it impossible to hold high growth opportunities in the same way a retail investor can. Buffet famously said that he could guarantee 50% returns if he was managing a small portfolio. Individual stock picking is NOT a lottery. Retail investors have the ultimate structural edge and the agility to hold through volatility, and the ability to capitalize on high conviction plays in emerging sectors. We’ve seen the kind of growth some of the most popular retail stocks like IREN, NBIS, RKLB, ASTS, MU etc have returned. To be clear, this isn't for everyone; it requires significant due diligence and the discipline to vet quality companies. While I still believe ETFs are a great first step for those who don't want to do the work, I’m glad I do. My own results (nearly 300% in under three years) have significantly outperformed what any broad index would have provided. If you’re young and willing to leverage the institutional grade research available to you, the opportunity cost of settling for average index returns is massive compared to targeting high quality companies with thematic tailwinds.

Well Monkey Mind investing more like. Completely wrong advice 🚨 Individual stock picking is a losing proposition for the vast majority of investors. Decades of data, including the SPIVA Scorecard, show that roughly 80-90%+ of active managers (and by extension, most retail stock pickers) underperform broad market indexes like the S&P 500 over 10-15 year periods, after fees and survivorship bias. individual stock picking turns into a lottery where you’re far more likely to own the losers. Broad ETFs automatically capture those rare winners within a diversified basket, delivering the market’s positive expected return without the ruinous concentration risk.

X can be overwhelming with everyone posting new tickers and positions everyday. Accounts like @babyfolio who have high conviction in a handful of stocks, plus the discipline to trim and time re-entries, are really refreshing. Don’t FOMO in have the patience to wait for the right opportunities while still having the guts to take big swings. Definitely one of the few accounts I’ve learnt a lot from!

Making $NBIS 40% of my port at low 200's did me well. What should be my next move?

@Bandziorek91 Very risky I personally wouldn’t go all in. I trimmed some $SIVE at €9.6 and have been buying under €7. I initially got in around €4 as well!

Wow, a UK investor who isn't just buying ETFs! It’s a shame so many of us are streets behind our US counterparts, paralysed by risk aversion. ETFs are a great first step, but stop treating the market like a savings account. If you aren't hunting for alpha, you’re leaving serious growth on the table. You can absolutely beat the index especially with the level of free research and insights available to you right here on X. Do the work and stop settling for average.🐒🚀

@PinguStacks Exactly. I understand everyone has different risk tolerances and goals, but for people in their 20s, the biggest risk is actually being too risk averse.

UK economy sets the mindset for most to be indoctrinated to a risk averse state. This economy unfortunately does not inspire innovation, entrepreneurship or thinking different from the majority. US are encouraged to take chances and risks. It’s why the majority of the top companies in the world are US based

@_MMCapital Theres risk aversion and also knowing your risk tolerance. Personally don't think 100% single stocks is the right play in the long run. And I do have single stocks in my portfolio.
