@TheFLZone Predictions: the Premier League will be reduced to 16 teams, and EFL teams won't be able to join it. Which teams will be in this new Super Premier League? The ones who sell the most shirts globally.

@FootballLeagueW Predictions: The Premier League finally breaks away from the FA to form a Super League and reduce the number of irrelevant domestic games against rubbish they need to play.
English

@BBCTeesSport Middlesbrough is an EFL team, always has been, always will be.
English

"We have a massive chance to make Middlesbrough a Premier League club again. Every time I walk out as captain, I have to pinch myself. I'm a lad from Berwick Hills, this is everything I dreamed of. My end goal for this season is getting Middlesbrough promoted. We don't know the team, but if I do get to lead the team out as captain at Wembley, it's something I'd be immensely proud of." - Dael Fry 🥹❤️

Read all this and remind yourself that Southampton still believe the punishment is disproportionate. Staggering arrogance 🤯

@SkyFootball The Premier League leaves the league system to form a Super League because the EFL is run by a bunch of numpties who couldn't run a bath.
English

@henrywinter We've heard it all before from the FA. Years ago Johan Cruyff it summed up perfectly: England will always have issues with the because the England Men's team because the clubs (and now the Premier League) is too powerful. The FA is just a side show.
English

FA to step up its development of home-grown head coaches. Further meetings planned. Encouraged by Eddie Howe’s trophy success with Newcastle United last year, Frank Lampard’s progress with Coventry City and Michael Carrick’s revival of Manchester United and today’s announcement of his permanent appointment. Plenty of English playing talent as highlighted by squad (inclusions and omissions) thanks to EPPP and academies. Need to nurture more managers. Work ongoing at St George’s Park to ensure deeper pool of home-grown options when Thomas Tuchel leaves (contract to 2028). #ENG

@MirrorFootball @DanBurnham_ But not as long as the stink at the @DailyMirror for being @UKLabour's propaganda division. How's those decreasing circulation numbers going over there?

I wish I wasn't a Southampton fan after Spygate – this stain will take years of washing #saintsfc

@AJPfx_ People are not focusing on the real issue here: the Premier League's reaction. The EFL have further damaged their relationship with the EPL by this decision. Why should the big teams pay to play against rubbish teams that instantly get relegated? The Super League agenda is back.
English

@BBCNews More deflection. Why isn't the BBC focusing on the stupidity of the EFL?.The Premier League wants nothing to do with the league system. Remember the Super League? The big Premier League teams already play too many games and cutting out teams from the EFL would solve that problem

Southampton's Eckert authorised spying missions bbc.in/4dEj5Tc
English

@leemelvin83 @SkyNews The EFL signed its own death warrant, its relationship with the Premier League is strained enough. I can see the big teams breaking away from the FA. They don't need the FA nor the EFL, especially given the consequences of the stupidity of this decision.
English

@_Mark_Fox__ @SkyNews About time the EFL grew some, this decision was the correct one! Systematic cheating which now the FA are reviewing! Trouble ahead for many individuals within Southampton. I do Feel
For the fans and the innocents in all of this!

The English Football League (EFL) has labelled Southampton "deplorable" for pressuring a junior member of staff to spy on Middlesbrough – blaming manager Tonda Eckert for "spygate"

English

@EFL_Comms You have just signed your own death warrant. The Premier League have been silent on this matter and for good reasons. Your relationship with it was bad enough in the first place. I would not be surprised if they abandoned the league system because of the mess you have created.

A League Arbitration Panel has today dismissed Southampton Football Club’s appeal against the Independent Disciplinary Commission’s decision in respect of breaches of EFL Regulations.
As a result, the original sanction remains in force. Southampton’s expulsion from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs stands, alongside the four-point deduction to be applied to the Club’s 2026/27 Championship record and the reprimand in respect of all charges. In accordance with EFL Regulations, the decision of the League Arbitration Panel is final.
Following the conclusion of the proceedings, the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final between Hull City and Middlesbrough is confirmed as taking place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 23 May, kicking off at 3.30pm.

Even more lovely comments than usual on this. But nobody is going to convince me that this punishment fits the “crime” especially in a sport riddled with “cheating” in every game

@Malsco45 @TheFLZone He took the club over when it was in the basement of the Championship and took the club on an amazing undefeated streak (and thrashing Charlton away 5-1 on the way). He is a winner and only 33 years old. End of.
English

@_Mark_Fox__ @TheFLZone Oh yeah he's a winner, he has just won the club a pass from the playoffs for a year at least. Also saving 37,000 supporters from turning up at Wembley, I am sure they are over the moon on that one.
