@PokeOkc @CollegeFBPortal I’m actually in the athletics compliance industry and tired of misinformation about rules. The original post is incorrect in that OSU did not encourage the kid to transfer. The replies are also incorrect in that walk-ons cannot freely transfer. Happy to answer any questions!

@PokeOkc It’s not technically wrong. I don’t believe they instructed the athlete to transfer, but even with a supportive letter, any student-athlete who was on a roster must enter the portal in order to not trigger the blind (“ghost”) transfer penalties. Or they need a waiver.

NEW: Oklahoma State’s Sr. Associate AD for Compliance, Ben Dyson, says they removed a player from the roster and instructed him to transfer to another NCAA institution.
Transferring without entering the portal can trigger harsh penalties.

@Broadcaster005 In a perfect world I would hope those two could get on the same page. Isaiah Coleman has the physical tools to be a role guy in the NBA. But it’s going to still take a lot of work and for him to get some confidence back

I was getting worried that everyone was going to come back for OSU. This roster needs an overhaul; I would hope Lutz buys Isaiah Coleman out next / tells him he won't have a spot next year so we have another spot for a player that will make a difference.
